Paddlefruit
With the large amount of skins that are existing and are being brought into the game, it can be annoying when you want to customize a pre-existing item but cannot make a new one at the moment, like a walking cane in Summer. If there were some sort of item or structure that would allow you to change the skins of already made and/or placed objects, I feel like that would be a massive QOL change to the way skins work. In addition, it would open the possibility of having skins for items that are uncraftable, like the Tam O' Shanter. This doesn't have to be a high priority since y'all are making so much cool content (which we all love), but whenever you have the chance, the community would love to have this. Thanks! fimmatek
What about our good old friend, the deconstruction staff?
Paddlefruit
Just now, fimmatek said: What about our good old friend, the deconstruction staff? I guess? But that sounds horribly inefficient to switch a skin on an item you already have lol
Mobbstar
So much yes! I hate it when we need chests but the person with the cool chest skin is not at base right now. Sure, we could make them, then later hammer and rebuild them, but that's kind of costly and really annoying. With skins having become so central to DST, this ability seems like a much needed feature. Mooagain
How about a magic paintbrush, made with beefalo wool and nitre.
Auth
I also thought something like a "Wardrobe Staff" which would just be a wardrobe on a stick would be funny.
NoscopeFelix
To no honest I like the idea. I imagine a hydrologic press that’s stomps the old item and pops out the skined one. No idea why I can perfectly imagine this press.

Pruinae
Oooh a magical needle. Makes sense with all the weaving skins and stuff. (Also makes for an easy Wendy quote)
BeliarBAD
ehhhmmm there is already exactly such a mod. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1621458706&searchtext=skin

Like, if you wanted to change a chest skin all of the chest/ice box items fall out. Oh, and birds get teleported to the shadow realm when it's used on on bird cages. (which isn't really fun to deal with as a Wormwood/Warly main)

Pelontriques
can the item use up ludicrous amounts of bee stingers because other than the stinger trap mod (which still works, surprisingly) and boat patches in the beta branch, bee stingers have little to no use whatsoever. Fill-Lips
The fact that no one suggest, in structure form, a cabinet is actually quite appalling. Seriously! WE HAVE A WARDROBE, BUT NO CABINET?
-Variant
What about a structure? Like a sewing station? It'd kind of function like the wardrobe. Slap an item in, if you've got a skin you can swap between them. Another nice way to let your friends skin your items, too!
Alexias
It will be good we have an option to change skin in game, it may open the room for non-craftable items to have re-skins.
maradyne
Reason for an item rather than a structure is because it would be difficult to use a structure to reskin other already-placed structures.
Neojenlce
From my "Random ideas" post Quote 2) Skin changer This one is simple, too. You can press on the skin image in the crafting menu and then "apply" it to already existing items/structures. It can be really useful if you used wrong skin for a structure (or to change Willow's lighter and Bernie without crafting them again)
