Request about Rot

Recommended Posts

Rot should disappear after a time when left on the ground. I think it would be good for the game for a couple reasons.

1. After a few 100 in-game days, there can be so much Rot scattered around in a world that the game can lag. A mechanic that removes Rot would benefit the performance of the game.

2. People just don't need that much Rot. Maybe it's just me but I usually have so much Rot that I can't really do anything with it, managing the amount of it feels like a waste of time when there are so many other things to do in DST. Yeah you can burn it but other than it, it doesn't have that many uses.

3. It looks bad. Honestly, if you don't collect it from time to time, your world just becomes ugly. It's bad for the aesthetics.

So my suggestion is that Rot should disappear from the ground after rain, like it gets washed into the soil or something.

Oh and thank you for your work Klei!

This sounds like a brilliant idea! it means that we'd have plenty of time to collect all the rot around inbetween rains if we need it, and if we don't (which is the most common thing) there will not be as much laying around in first place.

Also if for whatever reason you need rot, you can always leave fast perishables on a chest, or take any kind of perishables to toadstool, summon him, and as soon as he spores you, let it explode over the perishables. You don't even need to complete the toad fight after and you can get as much rot as you want this way. Works to get rotten eggs fast too.

The rot thing becomes a particularly more prominent issue now that the oceans get seeds by the birds, which means that the area where rot will start to stockpile is actually even larger than before.

this I like but Rot should get "washed away" ONLY AFTER lying on the floor at least 50 days

why? you maybe playing with experienced people that don't really need rot that much, but if you sometimes play with a large group of people that aren't very good at the game they will need tons of Rot for Booster Shots

If it just disappear after rain there would be lots of lag while rain everywhere anyway at times and it could be consume lots of processing power when it rains. May be singular rots and seeds particular could disappear from server once they are unrendered from a player? That is the easiest and most effective method. Feel like rot should be something you get from spoiled food you gathered not something left by something or someone on ground years ago.
