Any unknown mechanic to share?

Turf changes are always visible on the map - this fact can be used to track lunar rifts, as its turf is clearly visible on dark turfs (in my case, cave rock turf) (of course, this works best when blocking the possibility of the rift appearing in other locations).

Wormwood's Bramble Husk Specialist insight will trigger even while riding a beefalo, so you essentially gain a safe, free 22 AoE damage burst on every 3rd attack. While riding, Lunar Guardian I insight's stun will also apply, along with the gestalts from enlightened crown.

You can make bacon and eggs with only monster meat. You have a 50% chance of making bacon and eggs if you cook 2 monster meat and 2 eggs, and a 50% chance of making monster lasagna. If you end up with monster lasagna, you can feed it to a bird for an egg back.

You can tell what it's going to make ahead of time by examining the crock pot. If they say "almost done" or something similar, it'll be monster lasagna.  Bacon and Eggs take a while to cook, so they'll say something like "This will take a while".

-Slurtle slime is identical to gunpowder when it comes to cracking stone fruit. One slime will break up to 20 full stacks of stone fruit, same as gunpowder would.

-Fish Corden Bleu will protect you from the acid rain’s HP and food spoiling effects. Do note, though, that it does not prevent equipped items that have wetness protection in any capacity from taking damage, including items like the bone helm.

-Not too much of an “ingame” tip, but steam’s recent UI update added a handy notes section you can access with Shift + Tab. I personally use this to keep track of boss spawns, what bosses I need to kill for the current spark arc cycle, and any goals/notices I need to remember for next time I play. It’s possible to create multiple notes for various worlds you might have, which is handy.

Hey that's pretty useful!!  I used to use a DST mod that basically added a notebook stored to client.  I used this to track all of those things, my priorities etc.  I often delete worlds after 200~ish days and I think usually its because I lose focus.  The note pad helped, but I don't think that mod has worked in some time.  I'll check this out thx!

Could you share the workshop link? That sounds like a very cool mod

sry I don't have it anymore.  I forget how long ago it stopped working, but it was probably pre-ocean...

These days I make signs and hammer them noting things like dates I planted grass that I don't want to have turn into gekkos, slept in tent for winter fest presents, and things I'm working on.  Its easier to do this since a sign is 1 board, and BS smashers are a thing lol

It would be great to have a mod notebook again though.

Do you know any game mechanic that could not be very popular, you use for your advantage and could let us know?

For example: If you feed a pig x4 monster meat and kill it, you get 2x meat and 1x pig skin; two out of three ingredients to prototype hambat, also, you can repeat the process to get pig skin without destroying pig houses.

There is one 100% known mechanic which I suppose isn't used a lot by expierenced players since they have crockpots and just a habit to cook food. When I play Maxwell, I eat raw meat (but not monster meat). His sanity boost makes raw meat very good option: you don't spend time for cooking meals (and often even you can skip building crockpots), and you also help yourself with occasional nightmare fuel. sometimes.

What about healing food, you ask? Eat glomer goop.

This is simply the game working as intended, but it was an unknown mechanic to me for the longest time: If Wickerbottom reads the Everything Encyclopedia, you can not only craft everything from science and alchemy tier, but you also craft everything from tier 1 magic and think tank tier. Not only that, but if you stand near a simple tier 1 science machine with this book read, you have access to all tier 2 magic. The most noteworthy use of this - with just a science machine you can skip both the hatitator and the shadow manipulator entirely if you're looking to craft a dark sword. Usually people want to craft a shadow manipulator just to made those dank swords, but with a simple read of this book you can learn the recipe super early. Also this book builds charges, so if Wickerbottom reads it twice, then you have 2 stacks of this books effect, only losing a stack when you craft something that would have required the benefits of the book.

Other very useful finds are being able to craft ice staff and life giving amulet on day one without a science machine if you simply dig up the graves in mosaic biome for red and blue gems. The ice staff is very useful for Wickerbottom early game because it can be used to freeze crows, and then kill them with an axe to get the feather pens needed for her library and several advanced books. A beefalo saddle can be crafted for early beefalo taming. This book also lets her craft her other books which usually need science.

Also IDK it it's intended but if you're Maxwell on a boat, you can summon servant on the edge of a boat and travel with him so he'll mine the rocks in bigger area. With that I can mine all the rocks around Crabking using only 1 servant.

Is there a limit to how much you can stack it? Does it persist through server changes (cave transition & disconnecting)?

Fish summoned from Angler's Survival Guide is more likely to spawn on the northeast direction, so it would be more efficient if your fish farm is built facing that way.

This mechanic might be an oversight though.

I had no intention to check if they could persist long if I'll keep them busy, always thought they have a timer. In my case they disappear after I've cleared the crabking area like a normal servant, you know. And actually they can run from your boat edge if you're not swimming with them so don't think they stack. Once I'll investigate, I'll add more information.

I can't remember if there is a limit to the stacks, but I'm sure that the effect lasts after changing shards(caves/overworld), disconnecting and changing characters.

Squids are deviants who like to congregate in groups to cause mischief.  They're probably stripping copper or something, be careful!
