Someone is connecting the dots

Recommended Posts

(Copied from my Tumblr)

At the beginning of Winona’s short we see a bulletin board that is connecting Charlie to Wagstaff’s factory, i.e. Winona and Wagstaff. It’s easy to say it was Winona but the thing is Winona had no idea of what Wagstaff was doing and subsequently vanished with her boss. Someone else is making connections and it could be someone who works with the police (No I’m not say it’s Albert) or who works as a detective. Either way, someone is connecting the dots.

That's right, and it can't be someone we know, since in the timeline, everyone was already in the world before Winona... right?

But something I don't understand, how was Wagstaff still in our world? Weren't the events of DS all after the Voxola factory fire? @-@

Maxwell himself said time moved differently in the Constant and it's pretty much a given that the characters come from different places in time as well as different backgrounds.

Apparently not only is Charlie missing, but so is Woodie. The person connecting the dots also is aware of Wx-78, so I'm not sure if it's Winona or not using apophenia to find these people.

Someone has been keeping track of the disappearances for sure. Maybe even Jack Carter?

But then how could the devs have made that old timeline of events?

*THE ORIGINAL GAME + ROG STARTS HERE*

?: The DST plotline begins.

This was made by Kevin, if I'm not mistaken.

He kept it pretty vague.

Even if he kept it vague, he still gave us years to base ourselves off of.

I don't know, I understand where you're coming from, but it'd just makes things more complicated, and it sounds more like "we just thought this lore up right now, but how do we change the old stuff? Oh yeah, time works diffferently, boom."

I don't think that's what they're going for. I kinda figured Maxwell's line pre-dates DST.

Maybe this is closing in? whoever's connecting the dots still has not entered the constant.  If that board is gonna be a pattern to show you each story in the next animations, then maybe it will be the final character to enter....

I'd say it IS Winona who connected the dots, it looks like she infiltrated Wagstaff's factory, without really knowing what was going on, then she got pulled in when she discovered the portal, at least, that's what it felt like to me

True true. But someone would've had to investigate the fires afterward wouldn't they? They'd have to investigate the cause of the fire and who went missing.

Fair, it's definitely possible Winona wasn't the only one looking for anyone, and someone could've been helping her in connecting the dots, or vice versa. There could have potentiallly been a counter movement to Maxwell's escapades we don't know about, all happening in 'Real Space'

This is why I love lore updates.

There are clues to Winona being the one connecting the dots. First off, she would be the most likely one to have the family photo and Charlie's letter (though certainly anyone close to Winona investigating her disappearance could plausibly get a hold of these things).

There is also the description of Winona's Industrious Head skin: "When all signs pointed towards the Voxola Radio Company, Winona knew what she had to do."

This goes along with the "Gain Access To Voxola" note on the Pepe Sylvia board:

The description for the Work Uniform says she had a "short-lived stint" working at Voxola, so she wasn't there long. It makes sense if she was only getting a job there to investigate.

I still think it's Winona. Personal photos, a letter addressed to Winona from her sister, notes of getting access to Voxola, an application for Voxola—she eventually ends up at Voxola. All these dates are before 1919 (the date we have for the factory burning down).

No point in gaining access to something once it's burned down.

Maybe Winona's like Wigfrid, she's just really good at playing a role.

She's an investigator, looking into the disappearance of Charlie, and using her skills as a "Jill-of-all-trades" to infiltrate Voxola in order to find out what's going on.

She's just acting like she's a mechanical nut, but what's really under the hood? Nobody knows...

I did notice her quote for her Voxola skin after making this, so you guys have me there. Still what if there was someone else connecting the dots??

Someone has to pick up the mantle after Winona goes missing...

the dots also is aware of Wx-78,

so this means that WX was made in the real world and isn't just another clockwork made in the constant though the reason for Wagstaffs entry to there may have been relating to them

Still wonder if Wagstaff made WX followed by Maxwell/Charlie/Them taking it away after giving him the knowledge to build it in exchange to produce the radios. Then the grieving Wagstaff may of been desperate enough to reconstruct the portal to go after his lost child, but he of course freaked when the portal opened and still reached for help as it drug him inside which lead to Winona's downfall as well as she attempted to save him.
