Question about Thermo Aquatuners?

The Aquatuner vague tooltip seem suggest that its heat generation follow the law that for every action has an equal and opposite reaction, can anyone elaborate on the process, is it 1:1 conversion?

I am asking because I'd like to re build my paper bread farm, for which I need sleet wheet (<5c temp) and pinch paper farm (>30c), and I am considering using an Aquatuner to cool/heat water for both. so before I start working out ratios I need the info above.

 

Also on unrelated note, why some food items measured in units and other in mass, like 10 units of sleet wheet grain but 1 unit 1000g of Pincha pepper 

Aquatuners, and Thermo regulators cool anything sent into them by 14C. Same ammount of thermal energy is added into it's surrounding area. 

If you loop water through Aquatuner and then pipe it in radiant pipes around the aquatuner back to heat it, nothing will change.

It can cool liquids past freezing point, doing so breaks the output pipe.

Only food usable by dupes is shown as Kj Kg/Kj depends on food type. Seeds, clothing and possibly few other odities are shown as units, they should be all 1Kg/unit for seeds, clothing varies. Everything else is shown as Kg AFIK.

Heh, never noticed that.  It seems that the Aquatuner also generates additional heat equal to ~1/1000 of the heat moved (at room temp).  Well it's low enough I guess so it can be safely ignored.

Well don't block the output pipe then.  Where do you have it routed to?  Screenshot.

What is the best material for making aquatuners out of, Gold, Steel or Wolframite.  Do any of these materials change the overheat temp, as I seem to recall something about them breaking at 130c regardless of the liquid used.

Answering the above question about cold & breakeage.  On the input pipe, I have a thermal sensor and then a valve.  I set the thermal sensor to Above 14.5c for water.  This opens the valve and lets the liquid into the aquatuner, if the temperature is below 14.5, then the valve closes and the liquid is diverted to the output.

Id set it to 20c to be safe and put a reservoir on the output side.  That way you will reduce backups and can store up cold water for when you want to save power. 

I Use gold for my aquatuners and sink them in polluted water.  If it ever gets above 100C I purify it

If you;re going to sink your aquatuner in oil or petroleum, gold still works, never had an aqua-tuner made of gold overheat ever, just refine your oil or burn your petroleum before it gets to 170c since a gold aquatuner will melt at 175.

Neither the tooltip (1g) neither your idea (1kg) is the best way to show the heat output here. It would be more conventient for beginners to see that it will generate 585kDTU/s if running full blast, since it can process 10kg/s.

The aquatuner has a base overheat temperature of 125oC. This means that if you build it in water to shouldn`t overheat until it boils. Even if you build it feom iron. If you want to use it to produce steam for your turbines it`s best made out of steel. Wolframite doesn`t give any benefits over iron or copper so i`d never build it out of that. I`d ratehr save it for doors in hight temperature areas or for tungsten for rocket automation.

Probably the best answer.  I have been building them out of wolframite so far,but will switch to steel from now on.  Thanks.

The shown 58.51 DTU/s of heat should be at least 58.51kDTU/s if it shows the transfered energy for 1kg of water.

Ok I didn´t test it recently, but an aquatuner running on a closed loop was able to delete heat. (~ 1 year ago^^)

So I would be interested if an aquatuner inside a closed system is still able to delete heat or if it´s overheating after a while.

This could have been a result of Borg Cube, or a result of overheat clamping.  Both issues have been addressed as of the current live build.

I am unsure if the Aquatuner actually has heat generation from running or not.  I remember there was debate over that subject, and that the heat from the machinery running seemed to be missing.  So they may still only be displacing heat from what goes through them, but not generating any other heat from being a machine running as they should.
