I let the game idle as a ghost for maybe an hour or more checking in ever so often. I didn't earn a second gift. I did get a first gift but I was actively playing. How frequently are you suppose to get these gifts, does the time between them expand after each one for the week?

When is the weekly drop reset?

You have to be alive to be getting time towards your drops.

Yes. During events, there are some skins that everyone can use through the course of the event. (During Winter's Feast, for example, you can make a chest that looks like a gingerbread house.) There are also event skins that you can get in the weekly drops, but only while the event is live. If you get the event skin in your weekly drop you can use it forever (as long as you don't sell or unravel it). 

For example: During Hallowed Nights in the past, everyone could use the Halloween costume event skins during the course of the event, whether they owned the skins or not. Those costume skins also dropped during the event. Anyone who got the costume skins as drops during the event can use them indefinitely, but free access for everyone to all the costume skins ended with the event. The skins also stop appearing in drops when the event ends.

Also: The gingerbread chest skin has never been a part of the weekly drops, so if you want to make chests that look like gingerbread houses, you can only do it during Winter's Feast, but you also don't need to have ever received that skin in your weekly drops.

I hope this is clear. If there are specific skins you're interested in, it might help to specify which.

Do you get gift box time if your in creation mode? If you host a game and are the only one on? If you play the game offline? How much time is necessary between gifts?

Does new gift start its timer if you havent claimed the old one yet?

Has it been reset this week yet?

Yes. As long as you're ingame the timer counts down.

As long as the server is set to being online, you're good.

No. You won't be connected to Klei or even Steam's servers. Nothing involving skins will work in offline mode. You won't even be able to use skins you own when you're offline.

It varies. People have been asking that question for quite a while now with no clear answer. You'll just have to be patient.

I don't believe it does, but I could be wrong.

Afaik the timer starts when you open the gift, not when it appeares on your screen.

 The only way to know this is to keep track yourself. There is no way to check how many skins you’ve gotten in the past week. There is no way to check if the timer has reset.

Well there was some discussion earlier whether it counts down if your dead. And I let myself idle dead for a long time and I didn't get a prize. But you're absolutely sure it counts down if you are god mode creative, dead etc? What makes you so sure, have you had the present appear while you were dead, in god mod, etc.?

So the Halloween event ends on the 22, the joke poster aside, almost nothing tells you that, not that poster. Not post one of this thread. So if someones sick of telling people that, then they should stop telling people it at the bottom of a well. Telling people years before does NOT count.

How do you use mad scientist labs? I could not find them on wiki. Even when I joined in a creation world, I could not figure how to use them.

i can say godmode works, as well as the creative mode 'giveallrecipes' active

 

to use the mad scientist lab, first you have to build one (science tab), then you get a recipe tab just like the other tabs on your list, and you can make things from there. It is NOT visible if you use giveallrecipes, you have to console summon the individual items and then use it. Using giveallrecipes replaces both critter tab and mad sicence lab tab with another and you cannot switch while it is active

 So are you saying all the mad science crafts have their own craft tab?

I join a creation server, I can put down anything from my normal item creation. (is this give all recipes?) Putting down mad scientist lab. No lab crafts. I don't see any command for all recipes listed to me with /cmc. I also don't get how to cause any components to appear.

But setting that aside. I joined a noncreation server where a mad scientist lab was already up, and I did not see any new tab appear. It has since burned down but I will check again.

Afaik it was never a feature to prevent duplicates in a chest, it's just simply rare to happen.

it is a green chemical vial tab at the very bottom of your recipes. Creation mode over rides it with the pottery one. You should see it pop up on a non-creation server when near the machine

 

On a unrelated note, i wanted to point out how awesome Klei are with their skins. Most critter skins are fairly obvious in their differences, but at first glance you'd think the Kitty Kits were just recolors. But in fact, each is subtly different from the others in terms of fur shape and texture, and I think it's awesome they put so much love and care into even just a small change

Not once did I say it worked if you were dead did I? As you mentioned, there was already a discussion about that, and the answer looks to be a no. I only said that it works when using a creative/godmode. Getting skins like this is typically called "idling", and has worked since the introduction of the skin system. I never remember people complaining about this method not working anymore, so I can only assume it still works.
