Crazy Worldgen Showcase

Recommended Posts

While the world of Don't Starve does have its requirements and formulas to spawn certain objects and biomes, such as the Moon Base biome or Pig King, how it places these objects and biomes is, as far as we can tell, to an extent formulated, but basically completely random. So show us your craziest world gens, whether it be a pig king next to the Dragonfly arena, out of bounds trees, overlapping set pieces, or just plain weird biome placements. As long as they were generated on a more or less unmodded, default world, that is. Here are some of my own.

A sinkhole in a chess setpiece.

When the oasis desert (far right) is the farthest thing from spawn (far left) and there's no clockworks to be seen.

While this world is viewed as a map it looks like an island but there is one tiny invisible connection you can access the island from and there is also a wormhole connecting the two.

i think its a bug in all worlds where the oasis biome is connected to a bee queen sorta biome

I had the same bug... in the same place... in the same world...

We've had a bunch of crazy worldgen pictures, scattered around throughout the forums.  Some of them I think are gone now, such as the legendary "Pig King almost right on top of a lava pool", but looking in just the most recent pages of the Screenshot Showcase thread, you can see the "Wait--there's supposed to be TWO deserts?!" oasis full of hound mounds and rocks, and my own recent example:

worldgenhatesme.png.ffd0fe6aa1833c39a77d66670cd7438d.png

Touchstone in a CHESS BIOME.

I especially love how it's so far to the edge that they couldn't even fit in all the wooden flooring that normally would come with it.  Such a nice touch.  It's little details like that, that _truly_ showcase the stupid.  (claps)  Well played, Evil Worldgen.  Well played.

Just played on this world. This is the closest I've ever seen D'fly desert to the spawn I've seen, and I decided to make my base on the branch.

fact that you have a beefalo tamed on day 37 is interesting...

that means you started beefalo domestication on day 16 because its nearly impossible to get ewe to spawn before therefore you didnt have brush so trehofore taming takes 21 days because brushing takes 6 days off therefore it would take 15 days but it didnt becuase you didnt have brush.

woah

I know that a pig village at the end of a cobble road is a setpiece. What's odd is that the majority of the pig houses are clustered so close together. Unless that's a thing in lights out.

I started domesticating the beefalo on day 13-14 ish, and got it tamed on day 36. I could've started earlier, but I wanted to get the glossamer saddle.

my hobby is to summon it on first 3 days and counting how many frags it'll get before gets slain (often with my help)

Unless you visit deciduos biome , without it spawning ewe is impossible.

Other than that world gen's been pretty tame. However for some reason I kept finding food randomly in stale condition, like koalafant trunks and meat. Curious to know if anyone else has had this happen.

It's a bug with a mod called "Food Values" I think. Every time you examine food it spawns randomly somewhere in the map.

Good explanation, since when I moved onto a better client version of the mod I'm pretty sure I had no such incidents.

Ha!  That'd be awesome if it worked.  Shipwrecked nights can go...away, especially when it's rainy AND windy AND hands are trying to put out your fire, and wood is more difficult than normal to get because every time you cut down a tree you might be conked on the head by a coconut or bitten by a snake, but the weather makes you need even MORE of it than in an RoG spring.../rant.

Anyway.  Crazy worldgen.  Came across this little beauty in my latest world:

wormholelovescave.png.175720a4e0b0104b34c1540b0f34f4bf.png

HA.  Didn't know whether to laugh or act confused at this one, so Willow looks...happily confused?  : P  Anyway, this spot in the world is definitely gonna take you places...it just isn't quite sure where.

Or, alternate caption:

"You see, Junior, when a cave and a wormhole love each other very very much..."

(This is in a world with mods, but none of them have anything to do with cave or wormholes, so it's all good.)
