Should i buy this game?

Recommended Posts

they sleep on their own, everywhere, even hanging on ladders.  As for outside, we just got that.  :):wilson_laugh:

This game can be incredibly frustrating until you finish your initial learning curve.  Just getting to survival stage can be outright impossible for new players so don't stress making the first game all the way to the nonexistent end, just learn as much as you can and get as far as you can and you will be fine :)

no real story yet, games not done.  Yes there is a "sandbox" mode and a more extreme "debug" mode  Sandbox is activated from the "Main" menu or options menu though once you start the save is flagged "Sandboxed" while activating debug reveals the whole map activating everything and increasing the save file size to 2.5 mb instantly

It is pure freeplay, no quest, no "direction to move in" just survive your dupes and build your base so in that regards its pure sandbox

Do you like tinkering?

If you like to tinker with new stuff and your not afraid of some math, I would really recommend this game ;)

(PS: If you buy the game using steam you can try it and refund it, if it´s not fun to play for you)

@Lilalaunekuh By the time you get enough of the game under your belt to decide if you like it or not you'll be past the refund point.

The game is interesting and fun.  The control scheme needs to eventually be included in something tutorial like, but right now they're still getting all the buttons they need figured out in the first place, and it IS an Early Access game, so it's going to require a bit more of a learning curve until they build the stop tinkering with all the interfaces.  Even the wiki is a mess because they deploy every 6 weeks and those deployments usually include heavy changes.

If you're willing to invest some time into the wiki and the boards, you can get a lot out of the game.  If you're more interested in a finished product, I'd recommend waiting until they go to a version 1.0.

and it is on sale for $20 so why not

I think price is depends to store and location, for my country it is much cheaper. Probably it is cheap for all country with low purchasing power.

If you like tinkering, time flies and say goodbye to your other activity.

ALOT of buttons and things its like a very complicated sims sim with lore isnt it? you have to feed them make sure they sleep and do you get to see outside the meteor you are in?

When you mastered DS, ONI should be no problem.
No ingame tutorials, but a database with informations.
Forum helps a lot.
There is not much lore in for now, but it comes someday.
For now, it's more of a survival sandbox game, without any "quest".
But yes, buy it, even when it's sometimes frustrating (for me), i would do it again.

Klei has a tendency to make games that eat up massive chunks of your life...which not much to show from it. 2963 hours in DST...still never managed to get a good skin drop without buying it. :wilson_ecstatic:
