Ah, friends, I share with you a very weird, it is difficult to accept the news

Recommended Posts

We must also know that Tencent agent DST, the DST is committed to making friends to survive the game, and now 500,000 players in China, 40%, which is about 200,000 is a unique image of DST attracted girls.

So, Tencent will be in November 11th, the Chinese people dubbed the "single day" time, launched a MOD they produced - to marry

Yes, you did not wrong, is married,

Open the MOD after the role of access to the game will get a ring, when the two players exchange their rings when they will get married, put on the ring after exchange, a player dies when the ghost will be sent to his other side, Then the living man can revive him

After the marriage there will be a BUFF, the two sides stand at a certain distance will return to SAN, feeding each other, then the effect of food doubled; when one of the HP below 25%, two of them will increase 50% of the attack and defense

This mod has a couple of hours to open, and by that time I try to copy it down and upload an attachment
Here I would like to say Tencent is really stupid, they could have been married as Halloween as a game in the event, rather than MOD

Sounds . . . . actually not like a horrible mod. I mean, definitely a niche mod, but mechanic-wise pretty solid? I probably wouldn't use it except for when the crushing loneliness gets too great but I could imagine others doing so.

A mod to marry in an uncompromising survival game? With a lot of powers in exchange for... wait, no drawbacks at all?

...Wonders never cease.

Now, sit back, I'm turning my uncompromising sarcasm mode (lots of strawman fallacies to follow, enjoy!):

You can never be free of your spouse? Wait, you could also NOT revive them... What happens then?

Only happy marriages allowed?

Singles have an easier time avoiding obesity?

PS Does it mean when your husband feeds you monster lasagna, you will end up twice as poisoned? I can see much promise here...

@Mday 40% of tencent DST players are girls. Tencent will add mod for 1 day where players can marry each other in DST and have different bonuses (maybe challenges) while playing as married couple. This is how i read it and if it is true then it is pretty awesome.

Maybe next time just ask that guy what he meant so you don't need to auto-hate on tencent without any reason. He is doing pretty good job writing in english considering he is Chinese (at least i think so)

Also Tencent didnt do anything THAT wrong imo. They used 1 fanart on their site but they put it down after Klei told them that it is not official DS art but fanart. I am collecting all digital stuff from Klei and even i thought that art is from Klei

Also it seems that people forget about what are they using every day. It is called STEAM from company called VALVE - pretty much the top 3 worst company in gaming ever. Yes they made some great games but other than that? Worst support in world, poor steam client on all platforms, updates for games are pretty much just new skins to get more money from people, most cancerious (is this word?) players in any platform, ridiculous prices they take from market transactions and i bet it is this bad for developers putting their game on steam too, etc., etc., i can go forever. They are monopoly and they are doing whatever they want and for looooong time that isnt anything what players want/need.

Whatever tencent is doing just cant be worse than what Valve is doing

I don't get all the hate on Tencent from everyone? They're just promoting a game. There's nothing wrong with that right? Or is that really just all coming from that little place of jealousy because they have skins we don't have? I'm sure they are doing their best to make their customers happy. We should be happy the game itself is expanding.

I'd love a challenge like this for a day on Steam.

@t0panka I mean, I don't blame him for assuming news of Tencent would be bad since literally every single time Tencent has been mentioned on these forums its been in negative light. But what do I know.

Back on topic, If this is like, an actual thing done by Tencent and not just a fan mod or somthing... Then I dunno, I'm getting a somewhat tacky vibe from this. It just feels weird Imo. When I play Don't Starve Together I'm not like "This game is great and all but I REALLY need a significant other"

Also, from a gameplay and balance standpoint, It seems terrible imo lol

t0panka, fun fact, I am chinese :D. And I dont even know OP so there is no hate from me towards him.

Also just wana point out that, OP probably didn't write that piece himself. I can tell whatever is up there looks more like something just come out of a online translation service like google. It is not uncommon for the chinese to rely on online translation service.

Arent all those "bad news" (whatever they are) coming just from this one guy? And hell yeah everytime Tencent is mentioned on forums is in bad light because people auto-hate without reasons. Mainly because kids are pissed we dont have skins they have which is pretty selfish if you think about it. Noone from us will ever meet anyone with that skin since we cant play together and on top of that they dont have GOH skins.

People should be glad that DST is popular in China rather than whine about one skin set. Like 500 000 players? Is that since tencent started with DST or overall in China? Whatever it is it looks like pretty huge number. From today Steam stats peak was 12000 on steam. IDK how many DST games Klei sold but 500 000 for tencent seems ridiculously high

@Mday well i dont know about you but i cant speak Chinese and yes google translate is pretty much useless with some languages. Anyway so you can ask him in his language whats up! (if you are both Chinese)

Well this is his opinion. Maybe it would be cool if you could talk to him and report back here what is this all about? Then we can make our own opinions based on proper text because now we are pretty much guessing :/

I was understanding that it's a mod. And a similar mod exist in the classic DST game (made by someone at klei, the link is in this topic).

I've seen mods a lot more weird in the workshop so why not.

I'm sorry, since english isn't my native language, it's a little hard to understand all of this topic.

It's a good mod and I like it that's just a mod not official because in my opinion it will make the game more easy , but this way it's optional game content .

When I read the title I expected something bad but this is not bad . I would even call it good news .

On the side note : damn there are alot of girls playing DS/DST in China . In my country gamer girls are like unicorns - we all know they exist but no1 has seen one :D .

Well I wouldn't call it auto-hating if you just gave a reason, some people really care about their skins and exclusivity. But me? Yeah those skins are dope af, but I can live without.

@Lumina Again, there is nothing wrong with what Tencent is doing now with this mod thing, I just personally don't like it! If their target demographic likes it then go them, if it makes DST more popular then woohoo!

Fine, I will spend 30 mins digging on the news then :C:

So looks like TPG is releasing an MOD that allow players to marry each other. This mod offer 2 new character, 1 is male and the other is female. These two character starts with a ring, and by exchanging the rings they get married. Being married gives the following benefits:

1) Right click the ring to revive your partner

2) If you feed your partner, your partner receive double amount of sanity and health gain.

3) When the couple stick together they can recover sanity

4) When the character's HP is below 25%, they gain defend and attack buff.

Also on the day 11th Nov, DST on TGP is cheaper.

Thats about it from the chinese article above.

Edit: And yes, the ring can be used to Teleport to your partner's location. So that bit is kinda similar to the Soulmate mod by PeterA.

I'm willing to bet there's a lot more female gamers, especially in steam DST, than you think. We just don't really mention it because usually, gender doesn't really come up in play. People are more concerned with having enough cut grass for winter than knowing what's in their fellow players' pants. I also don't want to be that prick that stops to correct someone when they refer to me as "he."

What I'm getting at is that if you just assume everyone is male, it's going to seem like everyone is male. :wilson_wink:

On top of this being utterly imbalanced and making no sense in the context of DST whatsoever, I saw the style of the thing and something died in me.

Children dear, compare and contrast these two!

(Let's just agree I don't enjoy the direction this semi-official mod takes, with giving imbalance and the unfortunate implication of couples being superior.)

True I even have friends that are female in steam and play many games with them but in my country (small country in EU) really low % of ppl know ENG and even less play games other than farm simulators (translated) in their FB . I wanted to compare China to my country not to the steam community . But yea you are making a fair point and after all gender doesn't really matter the important is to have fun !
