I hear that Woodie is a character that is rarely ever used in DST. Understandable, since he's difficult to use effectively (and planting pine cones for sanity seems to be the only perk that anyone ever talks about. Besides faster tree chopping), and rookies are usually taken aback by the Werebeaver form. Plus, a group of players can usually do what Woodie does with no drawbacks (Groups of players can chop wood faster than Woodie, probably). Other characters also don't have to worry about a Werebeaver form of taking place.

Fret not, Woodie mains. If Woodie is effectively mastered and brought to his peak perfection, he'll benefit the team in a way no one saw coming.

I present to you all, Woodie's perk that no one had discovered before.

Does nobody remember he gets a bonus to follower times and a small insulation boost through the beard?

PS If that's your desire, I'll ship you.

I knew about the beard bonus, but he really gets a bonus to his follower times as well? By what percent?

Woodies' followers will have twice the loyalty to him depending on the item he gives them iirc

For example giving an egg to a pig will make him loyal to you for an entire day, while for other characters the pig would remain loyal for only half a day.

Another perk is guaranteed flint on day one. Even if you can't find the ever elusive flint, rocks are much more common near the portal, and Werebeaver's got just the tools, or teeth, to mine that sucker.

Also Woodie is best at exploring caves, you can map out the caves on day 1 thanks to Werebeaver form not draining hunger as well as his night vision, which lets you see the entire screen instead of the small radius of a torch or lantern. Only downside is you'll constantly be getting chased by nightmares, but once you're done exploring all you have to do is plant a few pine cones and you're good.
