New Variants

Recommended Posts

I searched a whole map up and down looking all around for Grass Gekkos to show to my friends. And nope nothing. No new twigs or berry bushes either which none of us have seen. Is it like one or the other type deal going on? You get Grass Gekkos or you don't? Juicy or reg? And Twiggy or reg? Cause I'd rather have the base producers and then have the special variants as well. Kinda sad our world is void of 3/4 of the new variants. :o

Yeah, they are chosen at random. Also they change randomly with each season (every type of resource changes in a different one) - but I don't know if it's enabled by default or not.

Oh I hope they do change about then. The Gekkos are pretty awesome, was sad to spend 20 days searching the map and coming up short on them. Though tbh, the entire map seemed void of much besides well, something I had never seen..

That's actually just a setpiece. Basalt is in the base game, but only appears in setpieces and as a useless replacement for boulders in Adventure Mode; its purpose is to be an indestructible wall or pillar.

but still, it never appeared in DST i think up until now, and I think on the 20th of April, the adventure_portal file was edited.

The "MandrakeHome" room has a very small chance (it is actually 0.5%) to spawn that set piece.  In addition to its incredible rarity, it is also large enough where there is a reasonable chance that even if it is chosen, the game will fail to find an acceptable spot to put it in that room.

It has always been this way.

I saw a dancing deciduous tree in winter (it didn't had leaves). It literally danced! The character quotes were also different.

I also saw a beautiful flower that looked like Wes balloons, which, when picked, makes a damage. When examined, character says "That's not right". I guess that is why Maxwell hated Wes.
