The ping number was removed.

Now you have performance for the host (only host has performance), and netscore for clients.

 

God knows what values they can have.

I assume between 0 and whatever.

I joined a dedicated server with 300 ping and I got a netscore of 1. The host also had 1.

(I printed out the TheNet:GetClientTable() table.)

 

So it displayed the 2 image, the OK.

 

It was not ok.

What kind of decision is this? What is the logic behind "let's remove the ping number from the tab menu"? It was just made less useful, this is decisively a downgrade. The ping number was already colored green/yellow/red, what does the new bar add? Absolutely nothing, it only removed a feature that is expected in every multiplayer game. And did it ever occur to Klei that they could add the rotten bar without removing the ping? I am baffled.

What happened in this update? My wife, friends and I are avid DST players. We play at least 2 hours a day. However, something with this latest update has ruined it. We use Windows XP, and Windows Vista computers. Now the Windows XP computer can not launch DST in any way shape or form. We are gravely disappointed in this developement. I fear our DST days are behind us due to the fact that updating OS's is not something we can afford any time in the near future. Why was the XP compatibility removed.

I second this. Ping is universal, everybody knows exactly what to expect given a certain ping value.

Well, ping is still visible for ourselves if we do c_netstats() as the OP post says.

It holds more info besides the ping, it's useful.

 

But this doesn't show me the ping of others.

Now seriously, HELL YEAH. I was just playing a dedicated and four or five people died. I was -obviously- alive with only one more guy and watched in pure joy as our base got swarmed by ghosts haunting and saying things like "I found a nice base, I'm gonna haunt this base". These suckers didn't know about the patch. Seems like the other guy alive also didn't know because he was desperate. I was laughing like hell. Aside from turning a few dishes into Wet Goop, they couldn't do any harm to our base and we were having an easy time chilling at our base until a friend invited me to join his server so I had to leave. Ghoss are powerless. GHOSTS SUCKERS HAVE BEEN DEFEATED. HELL YEAH.

why ping display is removed? One of the most important aspect of the game for fighting or any online game. How we are supposed to kite? I am always watching my ping to do my kiting strategy. An online game without a ping? What you are really trying to do? Please put the ping display back like all online games.
