Now seriously, HELL YEAH. I was just playing a dedicated and four or five people died. I was -obviously- alive with only one more guy and watched in pure joy as our base got swarmed by ghosts haunting and saying things like "I found a nice base, I'm gonna haunt this base". These suckers didn't know about the patch. Seems like the other guy alive also didn't know because he was desperate. I was laughing like hell. Aside from turning a few dishes into Wet Goop, they couldn't do any harm to our base and we were having an easy time chilling at our base until a friend invited me to join his server so I had to leave. Ghoss are powerless. GHOSTS SUCKERS HAVE BEEN DEFEATED. HELL YEAH.

 

I am not so sure about the sanity boost but reviving a ghost surely gives a huge sanity boost. like my sanity was 178 and it became 200 when i revived a guy. Though if you are sure that the guy is a griefer better not to revive cuz now griefers are only effective if they are alive. Best option is to build your base somewhere that cant be found easily. Must be really far from spawn point cuz griefers are generally those who has no patient to grief. They are trying to find something to burn, destroy or steal right away. If they cant, some of them light pig houses, entire forest etc. But they get bored if they cannot find ur base.

 

If I am in a public server, for some reason I never ever build a base. I just get lotta gold to build my alchemy engine if I need to. Then I destroy it and rebuild to replace whenever I need again. Everything is on me. I am playing like a walking base. Pretty much nomadic life. Food is everywhere in the game you dont need a crockpot or anything even in a game with 20 players online.

 

The most enjoyable side of this kind of gameplay is when people see me lets say with lotta good stuff like helmet and ham bat, they think I have a very big and nice base and they follow me to nowhere. After a while they realize that I am not gonna go to that utopia land in their mind and they just give up.

But seriously, do I have to write c_netstats() everytime i wanna see my ping? I know console saves your command and you just open up the console and press the up arrow key to bring that saved command back though why you are hiding it?

 

I have a pretty unstable internet (ranging from 27 to 500) so I have to watch my ping carefully before attacking anything. I was pressing tab button to see right away. Now i have to press 3 different buttons everytime i wanna see it. This does not really make sense. This is an online game not a single player survival. Why no ping display and some absurd bars instead? Strategy changes even in 27 ping and 80 ping. 80 ping player cannot hit a beefalo more than 5 times (server accepts 4 of them) while 27 can hit 6 times (server accepts only 5 of them) before kiting without taking any damage.

Hello. Has anyone else experienced difficulties joining LAN servers after the latest update? Me and my girlfriend have played a LAN game for a few weeks now without any problems, but just today the LAN game stopped appearing on her server list. We also tried joining through steam friends (option not available) and directly through DST terminal (error message about host only allowing local connection).

 

This is how it works: our old LAN server doesn't show up at all and doesn't allow connection. A new LAN server shows up on the server list, but also doesn't allow connection. Public servers work fine.

 

We have tried booting the game several times, verifying local data, booting computers, switching ethernet cables, booting our switch etc. We have the same version of the game according to steam and DST starting window. No further updates available. I've tested pinging computers both ways, works fine.

 

The only thing I can think of causing this is the update. Any ideas?

Hei, here's a suggestion; since Meat Effigy has been reworked, wouldn't it be nice to make it available for Wilderness? So that you could choose to start again somewhere in the world, or respawn in some place you actually want to be when you respawn, like base (depends on where the effigy is). We don't have any other recipes for the beard hair, so it would be useful for Wilderness server now that it's reworked :)

It's effective because it completely counters the not-griefer-at-the-start-but-turn-into-a-griefer-as-soon-as-I-die player, You know, those players that don't grief while alive but as soon as they die they turn their fat asses into griefing idiots. This new change works wonders on them. All of the players I've found today that died and tried to start griefing, have failed miserably and left. It will take a while before all of these losers realise what the patch has done, but I'm sure that during the course of the week we'll start to see a lot of people leaving the server as soon as they die.

Well, I would say that's still temporary (the leaving) because from what I remember devs said they had something planned for ghosts in future, right...?

Since reviving a ghost now provides a huge sanity boost, I am sure people will be more willing to revive them instead of leaving them to stay in that form. Just tried on my server by spawning a gland and the answer is no... It takes only -40 hp. And -40 hp is indicated for that item to craft. It is like 3 grass, 1 gland, -40 hp.

 

And if you use that heart to revive someone it gives you a good amount of sanity like my was increased from 178 to 200... The worst case scenario is +25 sanity boost for using that hp to revive someone. Enough to make an insane guy sane right away in most cases.

Added a new [network] setting, steam_group_admins, which automatically gives admin status to officers on servers associated with their Steam Group ID

 

what are the options and syntax in settings.ini for steam_group_admins?

You just have to add the following lines in your settings.ini after having bound your server to a steam group:
 

[network] steam_group_admins = true
