Cmon, guys, do you really think, that awesome team like Klei will put out an completely unbalanced product? Have some faith guys! If the game will become easier together - they'll make it harder! So hard that it will require cooperation and teamwork to survive. Or even turning on each other where the strongest and smartest survive... DS is awesome. Klei is awesome. And DS Together will be too. I am sure. And if they answerted players hopes of a multiplayer, who knows maybe they'll add new DLC too if we ask politely.

I'm pretty excited strangely...

 

 

Some thoughts come to mind

 

  • Will this system be only accessible by starting a fresh character and creating a new, shared "co-op world"?

 

  • Or  perhaps will you be simply able to drop in and out of any world you wish with an otherwise single player character? (Taking your inventory with you?)

 

  • ALSO if someone takes your favorite character, will that character be locked or can you have dupes of characters in a world?

Important question to developers!

 

Can players kill each other?

 

Your choice will decide who wants a good relationship with friends will buy it or not.

I hope the answer is no. And I mean an absolute no. They said the multiplayer mode is to be played "together" with others. And, you will have the choice of playing the game privately with some of your dudes and gals and have a jolly good time...

Now then, about playing Don't Starve with randoms?

Lol.

Not a chance. Here's why: If some sort of pvp is available, you'll probably find this one guy who's like all over the head thinking they're the "king of the world" or something and will make the world a pain to you because... I dunno... he decided you're... Uh the... Guy who's... not... Meant to live? Seriously I have no idea what goes through their heads.

And it is so how the unexciting vicious cycle of multiplayer survival games begins:

Meet someone -> get killed -> respawn -> kill others because they cannot be trusted -> then turn that guy you killed into another killer because he cannot trust anyone -> and so on...

That is what ruins multiplayer survival games most times.

But don't worry, it won't be expected in this game at all!

... Right?

I would imagine a 'gamemode' being like how you meet people in the game 'journey', because that's awesome. Imaging you exploring your created multiplayer world, and other people could be plopped inside aswell without you knowing, on different places, and then you'd just stumble across each other, leading to you seeing the other caracthers face on the map! :-)

 

Imagine all the possibilities!

Unexpected! I have great faith in Klei, in my eyes they've proven themselves to know what they're doing a surprisingly amount of times

And if Together turns out "eh" in halfway development I'd bet they would be taking no risks and backing out of it instantly, though that would be sad :L

I hope multiplayer won't be restricted too much in any way, I would love to play differently everytime, both competitive and coop. Making up our own rules. Such as having each player go to the other end of the map to gear up and return to battle eachother on the 7th day or something.

It was only last week SethR was denying the likelihood of multiplayer on CobaltStreak's DS stream. What happened?

 

I didn't want to spoil the fun of the puzzle! I assure you, I had some difficulty keeping from cracking an audible smile when talking about it on the stream. :)

I can tell that this is gonna split the community like an egg. People were upset simply over the idea of adding Pyro as a playable character. Good luck Klei. Let's just hope we don't have a civil war on our hands.

I'm glad they are adding multiplayer, as I was kinda of bored with the game for a while now, so this will definitely make me play again

Well, now that the hype of NOMULTIOMGPLZNO is over im re-thinking this thing again, and it may be an interesting new thing. I'll wait for JoeW(or another dev) to post more info on this as many of the things in game have been made to be best for singleplayer for so long. I may get someone to play with me, maybe... i think... im so lonely ;-;

Now that's something i really wasn't expecting. But i liked it.

 

Honestly, i think this will make the game harder. 4 people fighting a giant will sure be easier but you are all forgetting you have to gather resources to armor up first. 4 log suits are 32 logs and 24 grass. And if that wasn't enough, imagine after the battle is over how much healing items you would spend to get everyone at full health again. Another example is hunger, you would have to make 4 honey hams every day to sustain the characters, if everyone is not playing as Wolfgang or Wes.

But even being harder, it's not impossible. It's just... harder.

 

What i hope that don't happen is the possibility of having 2 of the same character on the map. This wouldn't make sense at all. Also infinite respawn, please Klei DON'T add infinite respawns for multiplayer...

 

And to the people that didn't liked it, it's simple: Don't play on multiplayer.

The most awesome thing about this game is how customizable it is. Don't like the giants? Turn them off. Don't like the frog rain on survival mode? Turn it off. Don't want multiplayer? Guess what? Turn it off.
