Collected Klei Quotes - What Klei has said so far

Besides being a decent tongue twister, Collected Klei Quotes is my summary of a variety of important statements made by Klei personel in these three RoG related forums.  I wanted a quick reference to Klei quotes, and it snowballed.  I've organized them loosely in the approximate order of frequency they get posted about (kind of).  Individual quotes are listed as most-recent-first.  It doesn't cover every bug related quote, mostly ones that get posted about a lot, or ones that I found to be of particular interest. 

 

I'm also incorporating file diving rumors, though those are harder to search for.  Feel free to pm me if I need to add something to the list.

 

I'll try to keep it up to date at least until the next update.  Enjoy!

 

WETNESS IN GENERAL

With regard to freezing during spring: "If you were to not wear any insulating clothing during winter, you would see the freezing happen at exactly the same speed. Because the context that you're used to seeing freezing in is winter when you're almost always wearing something warm, you're used to a slower freeze speed. It's just a matter of how a deep simulation like Don't Starve functions. Hope that helps!"

with regard to piggyback and krampus sack waterproofiness: "They actually are waterproof. The way that the waterproofer component is implemented is that if an item has it, it will not get wet. If it has a waterproof effectiveness value of > 0 then it will actually protect the player from getting wet. We wanted the piggyback and krampus sack to not be able to get wet (i.e. not able to cause sanity drain), but not to protect the player (after all, they're backpacks). Sorry if that was confusing."

Summary: The Fling-O-Matic will have a way for you to tell it's range, and it will prioritize fire over smouldering things, over withered plants. It will target BOTH normal and Endothermic fires, and this is inentional. It will NOT target torches. No word on Starcaller staff star.

Seth basically clarifies (over the course of three posts) that the red spring bees are not technically "killer" bees like spawn when you hit the hive.  If you catch these 'spring bees' they will revert to yellow bees in your inventory, allowing you to craft beeboxes and such with them.

THank you so much for this!  I've been checking the RoG forums three times a week for Dev comments (or an update post) but I do not have the time to go through all the threads.

 

This has brought me back up to speed!
