I predict:

MOD_API_VERSION = 4

will change to

MOD_API_VERSION = 5

thanks for shopping.

It's too late for my 50% geek cure (on the gaming side) when I immediately got it and started laughing. Oh well, might as well look at cures for major medical diseases then :p

Yeah and if we didn't have 3 different Chesters for surface, ruins and caves, that'd be great.

Ruins swap his inventory  too?! Never got there with Chester, yet. Crap, this is getting annoying....

Currently, 99.5% of the mods and official game updates just tweak existing game mechanics and layouts.

New weapon (based on an existing weapon mechanics but has new art and tweaked stats)

New armor (based on an existing armor mechanics but has new art and tweaked stats)

New Character (based on an exiting character mechanics but with new art and tweaked stats)

New Mobs (based on an exiting mob mechanics but with new art and tweaked stats)

Tweaks: Mostly makes things easier or lest tedious or unlocks things.

HUD improvements: New/more slots in existing menu structure.

None of these things actually give you new things to do nor new reasons to do them.

Let's say you had an actual, legit reason to go into the caves.  You HAD to go into the caves.  Through ALL layers (yes, including lava) to get further in the game. To adventure mode for example or teleporting to the next new map (or something new that isn't more of the same.

All the exiting 'portato' pieces gathered would create a opening to the caves (not another map like the one you just explored)

Each cave level would have one piece of a new 'portato'.  Once you fought your way through the first level, got that level's prize (portato piece), you had to go further down into the next level to get the next piece and so on until you got through all levels and gathered all pieces.  Fighting new mobs along the way.  Now that's adventure.

Finally, you have all the pieces and you go into the last cave level to build the portal.

Now, that's a reason for adventuring and also gives you a legit reason to go into the caves in the first place.  Not just to pick up yet another hunk of armor or a slightly different stone to make a wall out of.

In this setup, you would NEED all the new armor and weapons to get further down the caves because the mobs get more difficult the further down you go.  And to get what?  To your goal: Building the portal to move on.

That's how I would have layed the game out instead of having all the pieces scattered about in your starting world that, then, just takes you to more of the same worlds you've already explored to death.  That would give you an actual reason to go into (caves, in this example) rather then just making them an option to keep from getting bored.

So, with any new update (or DLC now) they could introduce new pieces you need to pick up in the caves that could lead you down through the levels to build a portal to newer level content.

To me, there's no adventure involved in just throwing in a new level with no real reason to go there.

I know this would turn the game into more of an 'adventure' game rather than a simple 'rogue' game, but let's face it.  A 'rogue' game can only keep your interest so long before boring you to death with the same game mechanics designed only to kill you at the slightest misstep.

Yeah and if we didn't have 3 different Chesters for surface, ruins and caves, that'd be great.

This. I'm fine with items transfering between 3 chester, but still would love if the devs make it be more simple.

I hope more contents for the outside, i'm bored to play in the cave.

and this. I've tried all character to survive about 100-300 days. My main world is Maxwell which has 3 sub base + 1 main base in surface and 1 main base in ruin. Now I can live happily ever after in ruins without support from surface. Thus it hasn't any goal left in game for me and it getting bored.

A 'rogue' game can only keep your interest so long before boring you to death with the same game mechanics designed only to kill you at the slightest misstep.

And that is why we have Meat Effigies.

If you can die from Boredom, then we need several Effigies!

*ducks*

I dream of an update that will give each character meat effigies in their appearance.

Yes. I wat a meaty Willow <3

i wonder why klei told us about William Carter's story and Charlie's origin anyway?

We all believe William is Maxwell that is what Klei make us to, aren't they?

I don't William keeps referring a brother in his letters . I think Maxwell is that brother.

I know this would turn the game into more of an 'adventure' game rather than a simple 'rogue' game, but let's face it.

It should be like that.

And... well, still would love to hear the annoucement of Don't starve unofficial multiplayer, that's would be fun.

*clap*, *clap*

I would be ecstatic if they would just fix bugs and glitches that have appeared since (in my opinion / guess) they started working on overhauling for porting to the ps4: invisible produce, much much more frequent crashes, stuttering during snowmelt, levitating items, etc.

Bringing the game back to a nimble, smooth, reliable way to have fun where the things that were supposed to work, worked. That would be a really great new content for me that I haven't seen in a couple of months.

I love this game. I would love love for it to work well. Or at least as well as it used to work.

I wonder if the Krampusnachts will be added to the vanilla game aswell, Kevin did say a while back that Krampus' naughty days are over...

Hopping that'll happen. I wonder what happens if you miss a Krampusnacht by being underground....

I could imagine the Krampi waiting at the cave entrance for you, would be even better if they have a custom "waiting impatiently" animation :D. And then the shenanigans begin!

I dream of an update that will give each character meat effigies in their appearance.

Shooot. Sorry guys. Totally lapsed my mind.

Wait, what? I could've sworn I quoted a different comment... :o The above is not relevant, folks. XD
