Just to finish up, shenanigans I was noticing surrounding the liquid valve (alternating output packets of 24c, and 96c water) are due to some thresholding of minimum energy transfers in the conduit contents sim heat transfer code, that code was left alone for this patch as I suspect we have taken on enough gremlins at once as is but will have to go on the backlog of things to fix. Myxal has already identified the source of the out of place water (condensation / boiling caused by allowing interaction of tiny steam packet with insulated tile).

Indeed they're no longer perfect insulators, but the element-to-element clamps are still in place, and 0.1g of glass would still only leak something trivial like 30 DTU/s for a steam room setup which is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Aerogel stopping working is such a heartbreak.  RIP my old saves. It was really cool to use it in steam rooms and specially in really really high temp builds.

Hi there!

I just wanted to put out the heads-up nice and early that the switch to Unity 6 seems to have broken all the mods in a dozen ways. Nobody should expect stuff on the workshop to work as-is with public_testing. I'm working with a bunch of the major modders to gather the problems and "road blocks" we're hitting, and plan to make a post this weekend detailing all of that info and proposed solutions.

Following up with this, it seems like lots of simple mods should be good to go because they just don't touch anything that changed between engine versions. Things aren't as bad for players as it seemed from a modder's perspective; Somehow this change has broken our projects and ability to compile our mods in a dozen ways but the existing compiled mods aren't necessarily affected by those problems. My upcoming post is going to be mostly focused on what modders have to do to support the new engine moving forward, or if your mod did break, then how to fix it.

Is anyone else having an issue putting numbers into building settings (fluid valve throughput, compactor capacity, etc.)?  The number keys are working, but also activating their associated hotkeys, like bringing up the building menus.

You too huh? In fact, I've had it to where if you press the 1 or 0 key a few times in this manner, debug enables itself, and you have to exit out of the save/game to get rid of it.

In the dropdown, select the name of the branch you want to play. In this case, the branch name is "public_testing"

  • This branch does not require a password.

Hrm. Hmm...

"Something something steam no likey"

Or in a more verbose version for this vexing riddle, "the beta won't show for me".

Spoiler

Edit: Took some time off, re checked steam settings, working it just doesn't load after updating game version... Old image put into spoiler tag.

Will have to finally update linux for this to work :hopelessness:

Steam relaunched and all, so the game actually updates? Or....Update excludes Linux users but they don't advertise that

Gave it a while, steam finally kicked in; game finally updated but we're not back in business. Still have to update linux, I guess.

Nah, this penguinista was testing this topic's build back on Friday. ;-) <kalm.png>

Not sure about the next build 716486, I've reverted and am scrambling to rework all the steam vent tamers. <panic.png> :wilson_worried:

Upgrading to Unity 6000.3.5f2 is huge! It's like second life is coming for ONI! Thank you so much and waiting for new DLC!
The old one was so outdated, and as programmer myself I can tell you wouldn't do so big change if nothing new isn't coming.
I bet it broke a lot of mods... but that is the price of progress :)

Are there chances for adding resizable windows to GUI?

@JarrettM I have some questions for the devs about the ONI project settings and target frameworks.

For some reason the switch from Unity 2022 to Unity 6 has forced our mod projects to reference .NET Standard 2.1 for building now. We used to target .NET Framework 4.8 and it is now a huge pile of errors using that framework with the new Unity engine. Answering these questions will set us down the "right" path for fixing our build configurations.

1. What is the API Compatibility Level set to for ONI's project?

2. Do you intend for mods to target the same framework the game targets? Do you intend to support both?

3. What is the Managed Code Stripping set to for ONI's project?

Thanks!

P.S
I think I may have posted these questions in a standalone post with far more elaboration on the issues; But I had that hide-after-posting checkbox clicked when I submitted so I have no idea if that post actually exists. If it is hidden then you could unhide it and get back to me there. Thanks again!

Curious, i now get to click "inspect" on buildings again, every time i load the game, free data banks.

Same - or if you let it run long enough it does it for me as well (allows inspect again and again)

I'm having this issue.  It is incredibly annoying.  Every time I try to type a precise number, it opens a menu and I have to reselect the text field, sometimes multiple times per digit.

You’re still on 716486, which does not have the hotfix for text fields.
