My favorite thing from the recent updates is the Brightshade Hammer & the Deadly Brightshades themselves..

This is a Stationary Mob that doesn’t move.. you can literally just ignore it’s existence by not walking too close to it. However if you do ignore it- it can mess with your world in unforeseen ways that can Hurt or Help you.

Examples: Brightshades spawn in Beefalo Savannah and drive them all into Extinction = Bad.

Brightshades spawn in Pig King Village so villagers get killed effortlessly for more Meat & Pig Skin then you can possibly ever know what to do with = Good.

They bring a new dynamic to the game that feel like a breath of Fresh-Air.

And that 42 damage, Weapon/Hammer/Pick is just icing on the cake.

And thus not touching your farm ever again...how could someone just ignore the brightshades when they're half way through a farming cycle? The crops would be unhappy before you kill the brightshades and there's no point killing them because the rift will spawn more the next day.

It's really a shame seeing an engaging part of the game getting blocked by a "challenge"(yes you can manipulate brightshades spawn mechanics but that limits your farm size and overall base design)

Well #1- I don’t Farm… and to be quite honest about it, when the RWYS Update came out I felt it was just a little “Too Good” like you grow all this Glorious food even through Winter?? The one season where food was supposed to be hard to obtain and crops weren’t supposed to grow- I feel like Brightshades are a super late game reintroduction of this “Down Time” from crops..

Wigfrid was my #2 most played character- I got used to chasing down, hunting & killing my food.

I suppose if you heavily rely on Farming then Brightshades will be annoying to You.. but if you play a mostly Nomadic like playstyle (Aka finding your food throughout the world such as I plucked carrots or Berry Bushes that haven’t been relocated from their natural spawn) then the Brightshades aren’t going to bother you too terribly much.

They can even HELP in obtaining food, such easy dispatch of Hound Waves, Spiders, Pig Villagers.. etc.

#1 "Winter is when no food" isn't a thing anymore ever since stone fruits were introduced. Plus, by the time you kill CC, you would probably have access to bundling wraps so you can just mass farm food during other seasons and bundle it.

#2 I don't rely on farming to solve hunger issues, I just want to have a relaxed time after I've killed the final bosses and pretty much have access to anything.

3# That down time infarming  is exactly why I dislike brightshades, you have to stop whatever you're doing and this can be very annoying in the late game since people usually spend a long time building big projects etc. This is why hounds are so annoying, you're finally in the flow state and you get disturbed by some mobs that isn't a threat thousands of days ago.

#4 Using brightshades to farm food is far less efficient than existing mob farms(fish farm & bunnymen farm)

I really liked the Brishades update.

Due to my playstyle, they did not affect me so much (I play with the rift on from day 1), usually base in the Dfly desert for my grass and I love to use Twiggy trees for my twigs, and since I play as Wicker, the ghostly guys cant put me to sleep while i'm gathering pure brilliance (you can eat a mushcake afterwards to remove the grogginess), the only major change that I made was placing my garden a little bit farther than I used to do.

They also are great for automating the pig farms (which is even greater for wicker as the pigs always aggro on her bees, so having them dead is better).

I do have my suggestions and feedback but I'm waiting for more ideas so I can make one big post about them.

As much as I am still very luke warm on the latest updates and new direction I really like the brightshade staff and the ink trio. Nightmare werepig is also a dope fight. I also really like the over all concept and art for the rifts (more so the lunar ones).

Shadow scythe easily, the damage ramping is cool and the crop harvesting is an amazing QoL feature, my single complaint with the item is that the damage ramping mechanic is locked behind wearing the full void armor (although maybe that's because it'd be too good when combined with bone armor?).

Dreadstone walls are neat too, really unique color scheme you don't see too often for structures.

The cinematics!

On the one hand I want another content update to advance the plot. On the other hand I REALLY want to see what the "core game-enhancement updates" are about

The new rifts were a great motivator for me to beat the endgame bosses. They are a nice cherry on top of the items you already get from them. It makes getting to the endgame feel more rewarding because now you have more options for endgame equipment. The rifts themselves are really interesting, the enemy designs are interesting and are a bit more mechanically interesting than just the "hit the enemy and move back" tactics that you usually do.
