How would you change the Favourite Food system?

A small feature, but it's weird to me how a character gains a flat +15 hunger value (not accounting for staleness) for their favourite food. It's underutilized on most characters, sometimes based on how hard it is to get the ingredients, and the meager hunger value some provide when their sanity/health gains are much more preferred. Thoughts?

PS: I would really like it too if the underused crock pot dishes got some love in varied stat values instead of most having 37.5 hunger gain and nothing else to differentiate it from others. I saw someone earlier want Pumpkin Cookies to have multiple produced at a Crock Pot for a smaller sanity gain for each cookie and I loved the idea.

I just would like to change Wormwood's favorite food from cooked banana to red mushrooms. 

They rot in 6 days cooked, so that's 3 days fresh (combined with being pretty out of the way underground means if you're going out of the way to eat a favorite food you'll need to bundle). Then you have to set up a reliable farming method near the ruins which takes a while because of the nightmare cycle. I also tend to get very few banana trees because of map generation or the banana trees get picked clean early on. However, if we get some banana tree seeds at some point then I'll be fine with it. Wormwood also has no problems hunger wise so it's more of a small nitpick.

aight ima like in real world... Will your favorite food (example: ice cream) feed you more well like dish which you hate but it's... I dunno... Giant Pizza 3x family size. It should be sanity boost cuz character can think like: In this cruel world i can atleast eat my favorite dish.

Is it crazy to suggest attaching the Favorite Food to the Player/User instead of the Character so they can choose a Favorite Food/Dish at the Character Select Screen, which remains their Favorite Food in that World until they change Character?

I think the hunger buff makes enough sense, idk about other people but for me personally I can eat something that's filling but if I don't like it a lot it won't really fully satisfy me

But if I eat something I really enjoy I'll be way less hungry and I'll feel totally fulfilled. I have always found the lack of sanity increase to be odd, though

This would be too easy to exploit

I will say something that I really like about the favourite food boost is that it's additive, not multiplicative.

I feel the game could do some more additive boosts here and there rather then the 1000th multiplicative boost, I think additive stuff can go a long way in making the game more varied and interesting.

Yeah, I figured it might be too OP. Oh, well. 

I'd like for +15 sanity on top of +15 hunger and maybe Wormwood's favourite food to be Red Caps. Cause like, Cooked Cave Bananas? You're bananas, Wormwood! Judging from his quotes, he finds red caps tasty so I don't think this is too crazy of an ask.

A choice at the first launch with no going back. The bonus should be ommited, but the choice gets to be displayed in your inspection menu. 

Actually, it should be a choice between 36743 and 91825.

In my opinion the food buff is meant to add personality to each character. I think them being more "satiated" by their favorite meals is good enough for it's intention of adding flare. 

Rather than pile on favorite foods maybe we can add more unique character interactions that flesh out characters further. Like some characters being less scared of different monsters. 

I think instead of worrying about the +15 hunger stats,  we should be discussing a separate mechanic to determine your characters favorite food.

I get that it's a fun bonus. It's extra. It's additive. However I feel like sometimes it is so nuanced that it's often entirely overlooked. What if we could choose our favorite food on the character select screen, sort of like how we pick our clothes. Maybe the characters each get a few choices to choose from. Maybe there are multiple favorite foods?

Example, WX's favorite food by default is Butterfly Muffins, But alternatives could be also choose from Powdered Cake, Dragonfruit Pie, or Pumpkin Cookies?

Ok, from his quotes, I agree that he seems to like red caps a lot. However, especially since you say it should also give +15 sanity on top of 15 hunger, plus no downside for wormwood eating red caps seems a bit OP. Wormwoods already eats red caps like candy, because no health penalty. They restore as much hunger, and are about as common, as carrots. Balancing wise, you would not want a characters favorite food to be berries.

Add foods the characters hate.

I thought of this because a co-worker just said that she hates coconuts and popcorn.

She says she chews, chews, but can't swallow.

Warly, Wigfrid and Wurt don't need this as they already have their hated food category.

Doesn't necessarily need to be Red Caps, just something I can actually use like Cooked Asparagus or Eggplants. Heck, if Klei makes Cave Bananas more accessible then I wouldn't even care for his favourite food to be changed because all I want is to actually be able to use the feature of favourite foods instead of just going "Oh yeah, this exists" and then never using it again. Also just saying, no one is going out of their way for +15 sanity from a red cap as Wormwood of all characters, that was more for other characters which favourite food isn't too great.

Cave bananas being his favorite food is very useful in a ruins rush. 15 sanity for your favorite food would be really overpowered on easily accessible foods like potatoes, would completely remove sanity from the game on those characters.
