WX Face Interpretation

Recommended Posts

Curious as to what people believe WX looks like based off of that silhouette. A lot of people see them as a bearded old guy, but I've seen them as a young-ish person with medium length hair. What do you guys think?
Here's the actual screenshot vs my (poorly drawn) interpretation

It can not be beard because of the chin. He don't have beards around his chin. Look at the red parts I draw. But I believe it is a "He" because he calls himself King, not queen in some quotes or brother in another characters.

Edit: He migh have in curl beards, that would make sense if he don't have a big chin.

I think there is three options

  • Sideburns

  • Or man&woman without hairface.

Except it literally goes from Wagstaff's perspective looking at the robot and putting the colender on his head, to Wx opening his eyes and looking at Wagstaff.

This is not a subtle clue.

At best, Wx was picturing himself as a younger Wagstaff, or it's just artistic interpretation.

Edit: Was wrong, clearly different.

How about Klei purposely made it look like each other. It could be a beard, or a clean shaven face with hair. Could be mutton chops with a stache.

Smart move to be honest. Anyone can interpret things, much like a Rorschach test.

I actually thought it was Wagstaff the first time i watched the trailer too. But then i thought i was dumb when everyone ran with it being someone else and my brain went along with that idea on subsequent rewatches.

I think you might have blinked at the scene right before the guy puts the colander on his head

I'm curious how based on the context you could assume it was anything but Wagstaff.

The silouette is completely different from Wagstaff's and why would he image himself as his younger self.

We have a young wagstaff in this short, with WX looking into the mirror and seeing themselves as a even younger wagstaff.

Upon further review, I was incorrect.

Well now that someone else saw what i thought i went back and rewatched and now i think you are right and that it was Wagstaff transferring or copying his conciousness into robot form to help him with experiments.

The shots before of the room dont move compared to when we get a first person view so i dont think that necessarily means its another persons viewpoint.

It would make sense why Wagstaff doesnt really seem to bothered to throw WX into the constant seeing as its just an inferior version of himself.

These are super cool and I can totally see them. I honestly didn't notice where the chin line was because that little film scratchy line thing distracted me

I've been thinking about that old design recently and it's really funny how far we've come since

There is an actual explanation for this, when WX was originally created their concept was "boy in a robot body or robot who thinks theyre a boy in a robot body" so the quotes were written as such. People later found themselves identifying with WX since they weren't like any of the other survivors in a lot of ways, and Klei took note of this and decided to have WX represented as neither male nor female to preserve that.

I thought it was Wagstaff as well until the first little silhouette flash.

The description makes it clear there's anther person though, if anyone still has doubts.

[SYNTAX_ERROR_LOG] WX-78 was the result of an unorthodox experiment helmed by { [LoadEmpathyModLibraryExW().......ERROR_DATA_PATH_NOT_FOUND] } and Robert Wagstaff. The experiment turned out to be a [RESOUNDING SUCCESS], but Wagstaff was [A SHORT-SIGHTED FOOL, AFRAID OF PROGRESS] and decided to put a stop to further tests. Adamant that the process that created them could still be perfected, WX refused to give up, continuing their experiments in secret. I've actually wondered if it's Wagstaff son.

Nothing to go on ofc, other than the glasses.

That's how people get glasses right? You're born with them due to a hereditary trait from one of your parents?

They just sort of grew on my face when I turned 10
