Somewhere out there, some Wurt main who doesn't read patch notes is gonna get decimated by their day 5000 merm army for murdering a fish.

It's actually the way to dismiss followers they won't attack you they'll just make a disgusted face then leave it's actually pretty clever because it's a way to make dismissing merm followers universal for all characters who use merms without using a item.

What even are WX’s nerfs? Does Water damage actually play an impactful role in their downside? Do they need to befriend Chester & a few random pig followers to prevent their Sanity from nose diving?

Im glad this is just a Beta version- because I’d hope for a little more balance on the full release.

I mean...

Remember that when WX-78 appeared he also didn't have a lot of downsides, what were his downsides before?

Oh yeah, taking damage for water, that almost never makes a lot of difference.

WX-78 never was a very interesting and balanced character before, I have to say that if you compare him as how It was before, It is now  a little more balanced and a lot more interesting that before that It was just "farm gears"

Quick question, does anyone knows if previous buffs to WX (eating gears and buffing his health and hunger) will disappear as soon as the update drops ? Since we’ll be getting modules to do the job, I need to know if my friend (who I play with everytime) is willingly to “drop” some gears that we spent in his upgrades…

Perhaps it's just a happy coincidence but I'd like to believe someone at Klei once read my thread and took inspiration from it.

Kudos, love the update, nearly exactly what I've wanted!

edit: I know many people suggested a similar idea, but it still makes you happy nonetheless seeing a somewhat similar idea making it into the game!

I feel like the circuits having durability kind of forces you to NOT swap out your setup ever. If you were to ask me i would prefer for the circuits being harder to make or something in exchange of them having no durability. The energy meter still exists so there is not like there is no drawback to swapping out even with no durability.

Yea when the update hits all gears do when eaten is recover stats.

Thing is when Klei reworked Wolfgang they brought him down a bit, I was certain they’d do the same to WX78, I remember when Wolfgang fans wanted an Arm or Leg Day work out to choose which to have at the moment at this rework just seems to be that but without any of the Nerfs Wolf got.

What even are WX’s nerfs? Does Water damage actually play an impactful role in their downside? Do they need to befriend Chester & a few random pig followers to prevent their Sanity from nose diving?

WX can install several fuses to go faster, or have higher health that’s errr nice I guess- But does plugging in too many at once short circuit WX/ cause electrical shortages/consume power more quickly?

Does Land Lord Charlie come knocking at WX78’s door to give them the Electricity bill?

I guess the TL:DR- As someone who wants to like playing as reworked Wolfgang.. the Funny robot doesn’t feel like it got hit with enough downsides to compare.

If you can't get WX to the same stats as before, I'd think that's what generally people would consider a nerf.

old WX with only 15 gear upgrades would have: 200/300/400 hunger/sanity/health respectively. In addition, when hit by lightning they would have: Immunity to Freezing and Darkness (provides light, even for others), speed, and get healed for 100 per strike instantly (not over time slowly for 2 whole days LOL).

Now try getting reworked WX anywhere close to having all those stats at once. Even without the lightning strike, if you just wanted to upgrade stats you'd have a mere 225/225/300 hunger/sanity/health respectively. And you cannot get anywhere beyond that, lightning or not. A lightning strike would basically give old wx four of the heavy-3 to 4 slot circuits for free! Now i'm not saying lightning should do this with new wx, but the gears upgrades to add more circuit slots suggestion I made previously in this thread would make more sense (especially limiting not putting too many of the same-type circuits).

What buffs WX received for all these massive nerfs? Infinite moggles, a sanity aura (with a cool tune!) and getting hit does damage to hitter. Oh and you can only choose one or two at the expense of not having anything else. Don't think the access to these will justify having 50 less stats on average (just comparing old geared up WX to best hunger/sanity/health upgrades at their limit) in addition of not being able to have any of the previous buffs WX used to get meanwhile being upgraded.

As most people is saying I think there is one cool idea:

Make WX-78 start only with 4 circuit slots, but that he can use gears to make expansion packs that will make WX-78 have a max of 10 circuit slots the expansion pack would cost 4 gears, the next 5 and so on.

And maybe make the circuits not have durability and that you can put off one by one?

Thats what most of the people is saying or I at least thing that It is a good idea, start with less but end with more.

The rest of the things are ok, he got a lot of nerfs but got a lot of buffs but maybe make the robot take less time to scan? It is very difficult to scan something like a rabbit because the robot also scares them away, even if you put them down in the floor the robot will still don't have enough time to scan them, so or make It take less time or that the robot doesn't scare them.

Dear Klei entertainment ever sense the webber rework came out I’ve noticed that one thing is missing and that thing is a small but noticeable sanity  drain when befriended spiders die it doesn’t even need to increase by the spider like being in range of befriended spiders dying drains not spider by spider and if that’s to much sanity loss then preferred he can gain sanity from decorated dens and you send yourself that the point of the reworks are to make the characters more like themselves so please make this change it would make a world of difference I your game and this community and thank you

p.s. Also although not as important to me it would be nice if characters pacific companions and tools had skins like there respective characters  and the companion’s home you know companions like Woby,Webber’s spiders , Wurt’s  merms, Lucy ,burnt and the bio scandalizer  obviously not all skins Expectably sense theres a warrior spider skin for webber which would be confusing but  at the very less triumphant skins for webber’s spiders I’m thinking though the den decorating kit skin and  for Wurt’s merm hut and  diy royalty kit

That’s the thing, we spent like 10 gears on his WX and it’s all level up now. 400 hunger, health etc. However, my fear is, if we’re going to lose all this progress just because the rework drops this month, or if old worlds with WX will have the previous Stat buffs AND the modules.

I hope so because I don’t want to be sad about losing tons of gears, but I understand if Klei do so, in fact, if by some miracle, already existing WXs don’t lose their stats on the rework, we’ll have potentially playable characters with almost 800 health without armor, that’s literally game breaking stuff.

The notes says that the WX will drop some of the gears that they have eaten, so I guess It will also drop your gears, and If you want you can restet you stats by siching your character.

Now one more thing that you should worry is If you won't die if the stats go to 0 the next time you enter the server after the rework (for example if you have 50 health, if after th rework your max stats go to their originl values maybe they also remove that number of health)

Currently, dying drops all the gears you've previously consumed. Don't worry too much about it.

The scanning is impossible without a panflute, I can't scan rabbits, butterflies, not even rooks, it would probably work for moleworms and slower mobs like bosses, Probably not on volt goats, but I got the point across.

I think they should temporarily freeze mobs in place

and hostile mobs should be given a cooldown for that

so you can repeatedly freeze passive mobs, but not hostile mobs

Or you can make jimmy scan while moving, and increase his flight speed

You know... The more I think about it the more this seems like a straight up unnecessary cluster manure than what it would of been if they had just made it easier for him to become overcharged.

I have no access to the beta so I can only speculate. But when he was overcharged he had 50% speed, immunity to winter, and "infinite" (as long as he was overcharged) light, plus all of his high stats.

Yeah he's far better than old Wx-78 simply because becoming overcharged all the time was so many hoops to jump through, but what if it was JUST easier to become overcharged? Instead of all these tools to get a fraction of his old overcharged state, they instead added tools to gather electricity.

Anyways, not advocating for anything, just bored. One easy counter is that he had all of those perks BECAUSE it was so hard to become overcharged (though Hamlet disagrees, but that was added later). New rework is pretty cool regardless.

I think this is a really good base, it just needs some tweaks. If I were to change anything it would be to either give more slots, while limiting the number of speed upgrades (maybe it could be a overclocking joke as the reason). I think it is hard to argue for anything but adding speed upgrades considering the value of speed in this game. Adjusting the cost of some of the upgrades because some of them take up too much space for what they provide. Lots of the three cost upgrades could be reduced to 2 to make people actually consider using them and the light upgrade probably shouldn't cost 5 in my honest opinion. Another thing is to maybe allow for the upgrades to be removed individually if possible, or remove one at a time starting from the top down.

Now that overcharging is gone, if you wanted to re-add it in a form you could overcharge yourself to get more slots? We now have ways to get charge from sources other than Wicker, natural lightning, and telelocator staff. So it could be a permanent electricity increase until you change out circuit or lose it through rain or starving.

Overall, I just want to use the other options without feeling like I'm making myself actively worse off. I do really like the ideas of having perks you chose and think this update is a good step forward.

great rework as aways, but i think the overcharged state by lightning could still be implemented but in another way

it's not that difficult actually, you just need to not get out of the range of scanning, so it wont reset. You can also scan rabbits at night as they are sleeping. But i do agree that his flight speed could be increased

I love this rework!!! As far as feedback goes, the circuits aren't super balanced, it's difficult to see me using anything other than speed and night vision. I don't think nerfing those circuits would be very fun, so buffing the other circuits seems like a good option, except that he's already been made very powerful by this rework, perhaps too much so. To counteract that I think it would be very interesting to make wx's weakness much more of a threat. As it stands, it takes ages to go from 0-20 wetness, then deplete all your charge, and then start losing health at a pretty slow rate. It gives you plenty of time to grab something water resistant.

I'd also like to point out that the health, sanity and hunger modules are even less powerful than they seem. Having a bigger pool means having to restore more after losing it, so the only way these circuits can actually save you resources is if you equip them with a full pool then unplug them with it almost empty before restoring. It also allows you to have to heal less often during a fight, and the hunger/sanity circuits can save you a decent amount of food/restore a decent amount of sanity if worn for a long time, but these benefits pale in comparison to a 50% speed boost, which is a massive benefit literally no matter what you're doing.

Lastly, I'd like to mention how interesting it would be to allow wx to deal electric damage (presumably with the electrification circuit, but more slot expensive and without the thorns) It would be play well because he'd have more damage potential in the rain, which is also his one weakness. So instead of spring just being annoying (now that lightning is a very minor benefit this is currently the case), it would have upsides and downsides. This would also work if the thorns did increased damage to wet target but come on! Who in their right mind tanks hits with a character with as much potential for speed as wx? This question is also very prevalent to his ability to increase his max health - you just don't take a lot of damage when you can run so fast.

Edit - first time on the forums but I've been playing as wx for a very, very long time, so I'm very familiar with his perks and downsides.
