Some random sea suggestions

Recommended Posts

Boats and boat structures shouldn't smolder on summer (normal structures placed on boats would still smolder as to make the spittlefish not be useless)

Probably won't make it for this QoL but I think that having the option to have the chance of a piece of the mainland to be on a different mass (but still having the chance of being connected with wormholes) could be fun and make boats more integrated into the experience. This could happen with twin biomes like the deserts or the forests, be it the creepy forest (moonbase forest) or the deciduous pig king one.

Also, please buff the sunken chest loot and remove the treasure chest cap (or increase it to like 20 per world at a time) as it's been suggested by many others before.

What do you think of these suggestions?

I've always wanted an archipelago world gen setting. Not sure how I feel about biomes having a chance to be whisked away on the default settings. Might be better if a new biome was added that's separated by a thick river or something.

Fully agree about the sunken chests though.

if we're doing random ocean suggestions...

please give sea stacks a flint drop.

and, the recipes for the time of day specific lures require materials which are entirely unobtainable at sea.

I don't know if this was intentional in order to punish messing up at fishing, or if the obtainability of the ingredients at sea just wasn't considered, but it would be nice to see some sort of change.

i just wish the ability to make sea stacks

maybe when kill crabking you got some sea stacks starter .. so u can have reason to visit him more

i dont mind if only can be planted on swell ocean like it naturally found .. just wish they give us ability to do that

How would that work?

idk new blobs appear in the ocean and you find them?

Idk, rocks from the sea stack when mined have a 90% of falling into ocean, so it's kinda pointless to add flint in imo.

killing crab king should reset them like FW resets ruins

maybe killing CK and giving the broken pearl to Pearl should highly increase the number of treasure bottle, she would still having hope to communicate with him and we will have more treasures and a reason to sail

doesnt hurt since there is no flint in the ocean and you can use orange amulet to pick some of them before the fall. Hitting them with boat make some of them them fall in your boat instead of sink

maybe, iirc the QoL reduces the crafting cost of boat patches.

But still, the idea of having to use a ruins item or intentionally smash your boat onto a sea stack to get a couple of flints bug me. I know it's possible to destroy the sea stacks with boat without it leaking, but still, it doesn't feel right for me.

I would love a way to be able to get minerals on the ocean, if possible, however.

maybe in a future the sea will have enough content to replace most of the sea turds

Considering how massive the ocean is, it doesn't exactly sound very fun to aimlessly wander around looking for the treasure chests Crab King spawned.

I'd rather just the message bottles mechanic be improved, and not be so reliant on multiple players.

i mean after reset bottles keep spawning and show you new treasures

Since this is random sea content suggestions..

then here are mine- Varglets now spawn in the ocean during a hound wave if your out at sea, Only 1 Varglet no other hounds But.. he is limited to only being able to spawn 2 hounds a great way to obtain MM at sea without relying on RockJaw Shark. It would also be nice if Varglets had a chance to drop Blue & Red Gems so Wolfgang can craft Gembells more easily.

Water Lily.. I want a flower that blooms and glows when on the ocean at dusk/night.

Waves, come on.. oceans aren’t meant to be peaceful and disturbingly flat.

TONS of new sea mobs, scenery etc..

such as Sunken Ships, Sea Algae, Jellyfish, Bottlenose Ballphin (this time they can’t be killed and will instead jump in and out of the water to look cute and stuff..) Flying Fish.. (What?? I’ve been playing too much Spelunky 2 okay? And a fish that jumps up out the water and throws itself at you like a projectile is just too funny NOT to be in DST.)

and the big one: More land content that’s out in the ocean the same size and scope as Turn of Tides Lunar Biomes.

Give me Places I WANT to sail to and explore.

hounds spawn on sea if you are near the shore or you took the boat too late, that change you are refering was just to make varglets able to do the same hounds do because vargs dont have that mechanics

so this

Finally people can’t just sail out into the ocean to escape hound waves  this will be fun.

wont happend

its curious to see someone get happy for something they never used

like i honestly dont understand the "this will be fun"

Which would you rather fight- Random RockJaw Shark encounter that appears out of nowhere thrashing you and doing major damage to your boat… or One clearly visible Varglet slowly swimming towards you from a distance spawning 2-3 regular hounds that won’t damage the boat at all?

You guys only THINK the idea is horrible on Paper.. but there is much much worse already in the game.

Having your boat swarmed by 6 or more Cookie cutters all boarding deck at once., setting Spiders to Tons & then realizing you can’t lower the amount of Water Spiders separate from Regular Spiders so NOW your Swarmed by Water Spiders in the Water Logged Biome.

Im pretty darn sure I can handle one slow moving Varglet that spawns 2-3 hounds that take turns boarding the boat one at a time.

rock jaws dont drop monster meat (from previous comment) neither damage your boat

hounds can damage your boat if they are fire hounds and for that they dont spawn in the sea (they did in the past) but they can come to land swimming if you are near the shore, in pearl island or moon island. Also in a boat there isnt enough space to kite them so they will be more difficult than weak cookie cutters

Anything with over 50 damage makes them a joke, and the QoL makes Boat Patches a lot cheaper.

Uhhh, you intentionally set them to tons, deal with it yourself.

It's really hard to dodge Varglet and its' minions' attacks on a tiny boat platform. Sharks usually come only at one and will just drop aggro after it fails to hit you a few times.

Idk if it summons fire hounds, but if it does, well, say goodbye to your boat if it doesn't have any kind of fire protection.

'Heavier' objects like rocks could float for a few moments before sinking?
