Being a couple of days since his rework went live, so i wonder whats your opinion on the Strongman.

Personally i like it, feel it added more depth to his gameplay besides eating.

I can see why people didnt liked the speed removal, but while thats definitely a nerf (A pretty big one) he got buffed on other areas, and overall i think hes still strong, specially when it comes to his Mighty Form lasting nearly a day, the food consumption being way lower and his dmg being consistent.

Mixed bag, kinda boring.

On the other hand I've discovered that in donut worlds (branch: never, loop: always) worlds I only need to build one gym on a boat and I basically have a traveling gym at every biome on my boat. It has considerably improved my gameplay now that I don't have to deal with the dumbbells and I can work out as I move (ship is moving). Dumbbells are still bad imo. Hopefully if they improve rowing speeds that will remove the need of sails as the gym and statue take up a lot of space.

I think that if rowing could be improved to Water logged beta that would awesome. If rowing outshines sails just for mighty Wolfgang specifically THAT would be awesome. Gameplay overall is still just basically being mighty or not mighty and filling in the meter.

Where is the option for: I like it but there’s room for Klei to improve it based on a week or two of feedback?

THATS the Wolfgang I want to play..

Now as far as tricks I have discovered you can do with the Rework:

Dumbells are Sink proof and can be used to kill at sea mobs with great ease & reap the loots.

You can use dumbells/gym/dumbells for a combination that isn’t a massive drain on Hunger-

While true its time consuming, plus wears down the dumbbells.

And later on, food is hardly an issue, one good crockpot and youre golden.

I really like Wolfgang as a character so I'm sad that they made him even more boring. He went from hitting hard and moving fast to waiting around watching an animation so that you can then hit hard. I was really excited for his rework, thought he would just get some touchups like Wigfrid.

mixed bag - having flat damage boost is good.  The gyms are alright, but very boring with how slow each lift is.  Dumbbells are still garbage, they lose way too much durability to have attacking with them be used for anything that isn't some gimmick niche case.  Stopping to lift them is boring and wasteful.  Wolfgang is bad early game and horrible for roaming, prolly better to start out as someone like Wendy, and just switch to him when you wanna fight a boss you can't use Abigail in (or just play Wigfrid for consistent bonus, no wasted time, actually SAVES durability on gear, has interesting perks for groups and late game, etc)

nb4 Aurora says "but you just lift as you go" - it is never better to lift as you go.  It takes the same time to gain from 0 to 100 as it does to regain from 75 to 100 x4.  You just spread it out and have a tedious upkeep task rather than a boring stall fest, its the same thing.  Its debatable how much mightiness even helps if you count the time wasted against your bonus damage / harvesting.  I did a speed run on dfly Wolfgang vs Wigfrid vs Willow.  Wigfrid won by a lot, Wolfgang and Willow tied.  Wolfgang took so much longer getting mighty it completely offset the advantage of the damage mod.

not very exciting gameplay in my eyes tho

this is what i dont like from the refresh

they nerfed him in a way that doesnt make him more interesting (the sanity nerf is good but nothing new or exciting)

he still kinda feels like a wilson

It's actually pretty good. The only difficult thing is gembells due to their complicated recipe (for instance, I didn't have any bishops in my world, so I needed to go and farm gems from stalagmites).

I mean, after you get potatoes and defeat EoT, you can be mighty almost 24/7 (especially with an Auto Gym mod which plays this boring clicker minigame for you)

You don't even need to spam Mighty Gyms everywhere - only near hardy bosses like Toadstool, Ancient Fuelweaver or Celestial Champion.

P.S.: Wanda is still better if you can fight without any damage, because Wolf has remained "tank-y"

My gripe is still that he didn't get a fun reason to play him outside of hey I hit hard.

Wanda isn't nearly as fragile as she seems if your using the right armors.

Wanda is a high risk/high reward character, but night armor gives her a comfortable amount of health to play with like 3-4 hits for some bosses.

Within that small threshold of health Wanda is actually really tanky. I know it sounds like a contradiction and you can't get careless, but her ageless watches don't just revert damage, they cancel some of it too. Her back step watch is really nice for early game dragonfly too. She has so much utility outside of combat that Wolfgang lacks.

Then there's the fact that she is usable in her normal and middle aged form when you're done being careless. Wanda is so dynamic it's incredibly impressive how much depth her character has. Once the novelty of Wolfgang is all dried up, I'm pick her back up over Wolfgang, probably forever. I know other people will too.

i mean, what is the point of having harder characters if those cant reward the player with more impactful perks than easier characters?

I really don't see Wanda as being that extremely difficult she has the same hp as most characters, it's just constantly ticking down and heals differently in exchange she gets extra range, extra damage when low hp, invincibility frames, teleports, death reversal. I know you have to go to ruins to get it, but all that really means is breaking a couple walls. Only need 24 Thul fragments for her crazy weapon with infinite durability, and I need the same amount to get a thul club that breaks on me.

Risk for reward yeah I know, but you don't even have to risk much if you're bad just stay young until you're forced to be old.

edit: Inb4 Wanda mains say she ain't op, and is "risky"

Edit: I just found out wanda even starts with 3 watch pieces, to make her utility watches yes very hard indeed

If you want to play safer you can go to the Ancient Archive early on instead of going to the ruins, hammer the thucelite walls there and than you will already have an alarming clock  when you go to the ruins later in the game.

Now I'ma give my feeling for this rework since I've been playing for awhile, I still don't know who this rework is for, who it suppose to attract, and who it will keep. I enjoy Wolfgang as a character and for his abilities, a strongman that plays like a powerhouse awesome it's still the same feel, but more chill. I don't find myself needing to abandon the players I'm following because they are going too slow, so I'd eventually starve that's not an issue anymore. The new issue is people are abandoning me instead cause I got to maintain my might by standing still or running all the way back to the gym station. It feels extremely annoying when I'm constantly maintaining this bar for not much in the end, it's either I'm going to chop/mine or go fight but the night before is spent, flipping the dumbbell or playing the mini game it's only during this time that I can call it enjoyable, only because I'm stuck at the fire with nothing to do otherwise.  When I'm away from my base is when it gets exponentially more annoying, add in maintaining a beefalo (I'm using other player's advice), trying to maintain mighty (I used to play always mighty it's a habit), and Wolfgang's other nerfs,(increased sanity loss, speed nerf, -100hp) wolf feels alot more squishy and useless, enless im sure I'm gonna be staying in one spot for my whole mighty duration it feels like a waste.

I like this mighty system, I think a gym and dumbbells are cool they are definitely way better for newer players as Wolfgang can basically achieve mightiness with varying degrees of time constraints, and utilitize it to it's full potential because of the linear values instead of 1.30x damage cause they barely made it into mighty, the noobs siphoning your fridge's food to upkeep their mighty for no reason is lessened although they are still present when the Wolfgang just stands in base working out all day, and then eating again (bruh). But I believe they just made him worse for anybody with a decent level of skill/game sense, his speed boost loss is a huge nerf to killing some bosses, the incentives to using the gym and dumbbells is greatly diminished when most cases can be solved in just normal form instead of spending the time to go mighty, and the whole draw to Wolfgang is now locked behind the gyms and dumbbells only, if you want to be mighty those are your only options and you'll always have to deal with it.

Yes, gembell and boss statue gyms exist, they are very tasty.... But they only remedy the annoyance by being the fastest option to get it over with.

My face after I spent 6 minutes pummeling spiders, killing spider Queens and tree guards, chopping trees and mining rocks and wolfgang still powers down so I have to run back to my gym station or lift this goldbell for a minute straight.635718762_maxresdefault(1).thumb.jpg.b18955bf2d41f7405c88745656ac041b.jpg

The main disadvantage with Wanda is that she cant heal with anything besides her Clock, which is a huge downside to have if you arent good at kiting or make mistakes.
