Wait, meteor fields don't expand? I was pretty sure, the area meteors impact gets larger over time

They do.. at least on Xbox Series X/S they do.

but of course someone’s going to come into the forum and give you some hard concrete facts that the area the meteors fall in is predetermined when generating your world and they never expand beyond that radius (no duh) but during actual Gameplay… they will start falling in a smaller radius and continue to expand to their maximum radius.

So they DO expand in game, they DONT expand in world Gen radius.. and anyone not digging into games code files to read the in’s and out’s of how the game works- Wouldn't know that they don’t.

They don't. And platform (Xbox/Playstation) shouldn't be any different either. Zark himself made a statement regarding them a bit back too:

How does that work on console anyways? Does someone need a disk reader or anything to decompile and then scry through the code or something?

In most cases- messing with the games files in any way on consoles will more often then not- lead to a ban from play.. either for a certain length of time, or permanently.

It is most commonly known as console tampering- and it’s actually illegal.

You can be fined for it because it qualifies as hacking/modding the game and maybe that’s fine on PC but in the console world- We can’t even have mods in games that ACTIVELY SUPPORT MODS (Minecraft)

even if you don’t change any of the games files, just looking into them can net you in trouble and get your Gamertag/PSN ID permanently banned.

In repeat offenses you will be issued a Console Ban, and have to go out and buy a brand new console to keep playing, and in most extreme cases your issued with an ISP ban- meaning you can’t play anymore at all no matter how many consoles you buy, only way you’ll be able to play again is to get a whole new ISP.

in short: doing anything beyond just playing the game it’s intended way, will result in bad consequences but I’m sure you guys get the idea.

Now we need to know, which of these myths would you want to be turned into features ? Because even if it's bs, a lot of them sound neat.

Skittersquid coming ashore in summer, to give Summer a unique “thing” beyond just extreme heat, cactus flower and Wildfires.

...and encompass all the world, because that's a true Survival challenge.

Also their frequency should increase simultaneously with said expansion to the point of becoming constant "meteor rain".

An worthy ending to the starvation start :willow:

The Moonstorm should be accompanied by perpetual meteor showers.

Great Idea!

Well at least this will change everyone’s obituaries pages from reading as “death by passage of time”

can’t wait to see “Moon Meteor landed on their face”

Bonus points if these moon meteorites actually spawn mutated moon creatures if their impact doesn’t kill you first!

Might as well.

No joke- you can turn most content off now so why not?? It’s there if you want “uncompromising” and can be turned off if you want to build a peaceful base.

I actually have meteors turned off during Hallowed Nights in my current world, I started building a huge pretty base and then meteors started landing in it and I was like “oh heck no, I’m turning that crap off!”

(because you can now exit your world at any time and turn many parts of that world on/off)

When I’m done with the cute Halloween thing I want to build… I’ll go back to “please sir can I have more meteorites destroy the stuff I place down?”

There's way too many reasons for why this shouldn't be a thing. The ability to disable a feature doesn't excuse the fact that said feature could be horribly developed for starts. (Disease is a good example. You could disable it, but it was horrible and thus was removed.)

The only problem with disease was that it was toggled on as default, if many things were toggled “off” by default- it would be optional as to if you want it or not.

Just like how there’s now a “more” option for Meteor showers (yeah Klei I caught that..) maybe if your on PC you always had this “more” option, but over on Xbox until a great QoL that added many things, we only had default or less.

NOW though- you can toggle the most controversial of features (Wildfires) to MORE.

Only people who actively want to watch their worlds go up in a blazing inferno will toggle Wildfires to More.. but it’s there if your crazy enough to want that.

Disease on the other hand- was on by default, and much of what disease does was incorporated into the RWYS gardens (forcing the player to pay attention and dig up stuff)

However… Klei Devs did also clearly state that if they brought disease back they would make it a better more fully fleshed out game mechanic sort of a disease 2.0 if you want to call it that.

Personally I’m all for Disease 2.0… but- most features should be off on default settings with some Klei official presets that ramps those changes up should you choose to play anything beyond “Default”

That would basically make literally the changes useless and a waste of ime considering almost noone plays with preset changes in a serious playthrough.

All the way in 2014!(Linked a timestamp, 1:04:23). Oh wow, they even had hunger too it seems! I had forgotten about that, I believe you had to haunt things to keep your ghost hunger up.

That stayed in the game until 2015; there were some mishaps with my group when it was in early access and we were almost all newbies.

A myth I've heard is that every character has (unique) strings for Long Pig, the removed human flesh item, mainly because the strings from a mod that reimplements it have ended up on the wiki at least twice. Only Wilson, Warly, Winona, Wormwood, and Wurt have their own strings for it; everyone else copies Wilson's, as is typical for unfinished strings.
