ArubaroBeefalo
Hi there, first of all sorry if the topic is hard to understand, i hope my english doesnt make your eyes bleed Since i started playing, thanks to how obscure are the mechanics of this franchise, i always heared or though that some stuff worked in a way that was totally wrong or with a lack of information. I have open this topic (maybe there was already another one created while ago but the forum search tool simply sucks xD) to share here myths that we believed or heared from other players and the explanation of how it actually works. Im going to list some of them: - Torch raises temperature. A lot of people back in the day read in the wiki that fake mechanic, torch doesnt increase your temperature. - Thermal stone temperature stacks with clothing. Nope, thermal stones last warm or cold the same ammount of time being naked or with top tier full body clothing so you are wasting slots. The only thing were both things can be used is if you wanna wear clothing after your thermal stone has become neutral to keep your temperature for longer but other than that is useless to carry both kind of weather protection items - Winter clothing makes your warm in summer. I need confirmation with this one (i dont want to start a new myth xD) but as far as i know winter clothing only protects you from losing temperature and summer clothing protects you from rising temperature so they dont affect how quickly you raise your temperature, you overheat easily in summer if you wear cloths because your character have a harder time losing temperature so every source of heat will increase your temperature easily. In conclusion, and under the need of confirmation, you can wear tams in summer without worries - Monster characters cant trade with Pig King. No, pigs hate wortox, weeber or werewoodie because they are monsters but that doesnt mean they cant trade with PK (you might want to do it at dusk to prevent being bullied by pigs, tho). ONLY Wurt cant trade with him because of the pig vs merms lore - Catcoons dens respawn. Nope, if a den is destroyed it will be gone forever like almost every other resource of the game so take care if you wanna keep them for long. People usually missunderstood the catcoon respawn mechanic added in DST, in DS if you killed all the catcoons from a den it will change the sprite to show that the den is empty meaning that it wont respawn more catcoons ever again, this was change in dst where, when the den gets empty it will stay with that sprite for many days but after a while it will start producing more catcoons and recovering their original sprite. - Picking flowers is bad because less flowers means less butterflies. This is false because the number of butterflies that can spawn depends of the number of players near so you can have 1000 flowers but wont spawn much butterflies if you are alone or you can have just 1 flower but many people arround which will speed up the spawning rate of butterflies. - You cant kite bishops. Also false. Most of the time you will tank them to save time but this could be useful if you find yourself in a tricky situation. With enough speed (ex. walking can + magiluminescence) you can hit for 2 or 3 hits, run away and evade the bishop atack by turning to one direction. Dance and repeat - Moleworms eats minerals. This scared my friends and i for many time and even more back in the day when they eat thermal stones. No, they dont eat minerals, moleworms collect and save them in their burrows, if you wanna get back mierals, turf or trickets eaten by those you simply need to shovel their burrows. Take in count that if you kill the moleworm and shovel the burrow that moleworm will be gone forever so if you wanna keep a moleworm in an area you need to keep the burrow or the moleworm since moleworms creat their spawn point if destroyed and burrows respawn their moleworm if is killed. - You cant kite BeeQueen. I have hear a lot of times this one. Is tricky but if you dont step in the honey to prevent getting the speed debuff you can totally kite her. Having extra speed helps - Lightnings cant hit volt goats protected with a lightning rod. Lightnings can still hit them since both have priority to be hiten. You can use trees from the waterlogged biome to fully protect them Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/134963-dont-starve-myths/ Share on other sites
Echsrick
i think i got another one something simmilar whit the pigking because im sure there people out there that think that bunnys attack wurt but bunnys actualy wont attack wurt unless she has meat on her i think the reason some think so is because wurt gets attacked by pigs so they think "monster" even if merms are actualy not even monsters in the code so is wurt so it means wurt can be next to bunnys Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/134963-dont-starve-myths/#findComment-1509466 Share on other sites

In Reign of Giants, wearing the wrong gear in the wrong season does negatively affect you, I think in Together, the way insulation works is different (no idea why) so that certain insulation will only be applicable during its appropriate seasons. For example in Autumn and Winter, winter clothing will keep you warm, but summer clothing will do nothing. I don't get this change though Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/134963-dont-starve-myths/#findComment-1509488 Share on other sites

Grim the
I've got a little list of myths and misconceptions I've heard before Meteor fields will expand over time Ocuvigils will load the area around them Insulation value = seconds Lunar mobs will turn into their non-mutated form when on the maindland long enough Torches have insulation value (fun fact, they do give rain protection) Stumps will re-grow into trees after enough time The blunderbuss was Warbucks-exclusive These aren't really misconceptions, but I thought I'd include them too Waterlogged was adding an ice biome, since they said it would be "chill" When wormwood said "seed.", he was talking about a beanstalk we'd definitely get to climb up to the moon That's all I have for now. Mike23Ua
How do you people find out all this stuff? Do you sit and study how things happen during gameplay or do you open some type of file that just straight up tells you? Either way.. I don’t care if my thermal stone and my lime green Santa hat stack in weather protection, if it’s snowing I’m using both period. VirgilEngineer
Catcoon dens respawn, but only after a few days, like 35 days or so.
