  1. 1. Who would you play as solo?

I'm really torn between these characters.  Warly would allow me to fill up the cookbook and hone my cool chef wizardry, but Woodie covers all the bases a team would cover. Winona just seems cool.  Please tell me who you'd pick and why, and please don't bring up why I wanna play solo,  I do have friends, I just wanna get better as a solo unit.

Also, please tell me why you'd pick a certain character over the other

if was on me warly or woodie. Both are fun,  maybe i found woodie more fun but warly is way stronger

woodie has his forms and not an intrusive downside, has good strategies with his forms and can farm minerals, wood and small mobs and clockworks easily

warly has one of the best dps and can gather materials easily with the honey spice also his downside is interesting

well, i simply would not play winona(sorry, she is a great Character but not a great character, you know?) and i am uncomfortable with the idea of losing my inventory at an inopportune time with the added insult of not being able to pick it back up for an excessive period of time so i suppose i'd have to go with warly. he's not really a character that speaks to me but he is the only one who doesn't have a downside that would make me seriously reconsider casual or pub play

though, my reasons do not seem useful to you and your reasons for asking don't actually give me the impression that my opinion matters x''D as it stands i'd say you should probs pick winona if you can manage keeping her topped up at all times she is certainly the most viable for soloing most of the hazards of dst without too much struggle and she also has a metric tonne of cool skins

If you know Warlys food dishes maybe play him, if you don’t- Pick anyone other than Warly.

Winona and Woodie are both pretty good for solo play- Winona for her Catapults and Duct Tape (which can be used to repair Winter Hats, Thermal Stones AND Boat Leaks) Woodie because Chopping wood as a Solo player is a boring chore.. At least Woodie does it in significantly less time plus he can go goose to scout the map and go moose to wreck spiders

It could be said that I have a bit of a bias in this question...

I'd say go for either Warly or Woodie. Warly is generally better at combat, while still being above average at gathering. Woodie is better at gathering while still being above average at combat. As long as you are comfortable enough with the crockpot to survive solely on its dishes, it just boils down to whether you want the leg up on gathering or combat

Well it's settled! I'm gonna try solo warly again in Gourmet Gauntlet Round 2 (2.5 because I reset the original round 2 world due to bad world gen on early game.) Any wisdom you'd like to share? What do you all prioritize in first?

I'm biased too, but Warly combines the perks of a lot of characters I to one and and is a great all rounder.

Ok so I didn't read the last part so ignore that, but as Warly I would prioritize farming crops and honey, and I recommend basing in the oasis for easy sanity through ice cream and chaud froid.

Woodie is an amazing character which I play mostly as, and has an incredible early game and super solid mid game, but at a certain point of the late game his progress falls flat. If you play solo the late game will get a bit dull.

Winona will let you fast kill bosses in the mid-late game , and offer a clean way to farm/kill hounds or gather gems. Just swap to her briefly at some point in the late game and build her stuff, that is all you need of Winona.

Warly has a permanent progress all across the game, and his con will force you to learn and understand the recipes creatively, while it will also make you practice with the new farms.

TL;DR: If your point is to get better, Warly is your character.

For me, Woodie is a good character but he can just do things better while Warly has unique and usefull perk.

- You can base anywhere you want but you definitly need to live near Volt goat so either Oasis or you just relocate them.

- First spring == Bee queen

Armor + heal, walking cane, 3/4 Pan flute, hambat, 2 Volt goat jelly and its enough. I got the strat from glermz's video, he's playing Wolf but with the 2.5 damage multiplier, its the same.

- Gather as much Lureplant as you can early years. Beefy green and jelly salad are 2 powerfull and easy dishes.

- Lunar island when you can (i personally try to go the 2nd year). Stone fruit bushes for the beefy green and kelp frond are easy filler.

Winona will help you to deal with the more difficult bosses. She gets a free hit from Charlie (more if you can find a light to run through every now and then) and she's got her tape. Whenever someone plays switch characters, they can ignore many of them but Winona always appears.

Other than that suggestion, it just really depends on your playstyle.

My vote goes to warly because technically he has the biggest amount of toys to play with of any character from stat buffs, self altering effects like wetness immunity and temp dishes, to funny gimmicks like his pie. Btw a interesting side note that isn't talked about much if you use the morning star you can farm out goat milk and make milkmaid hats which can be used to bypass his variety downside as it isn't effected by his downside.

Honestly all three are pretty good options to solo a world. But personally I can't be bothered with beating bosses like Beequeen, Dragonfly and Toadstool solo without catapults so my choice would be Winona. Besides, her catapults are very handy in conquering the world and making it bend to your will in comparison to Warly's temporary boosts or Woody's temporary transformations. You can make very convenient hound traps, moonstone battlegrounds, bunnymen farms, Warg farms and all sorts of other designs. Her fast crafting and spotlights for the chest area/kitchen are also pretty useful. Not to mention thanks to the trusty tapes you can largely ignore sewing kits and boat patches, making seafaring and clothe caring so much more convenient. You should also bear in mind how Vegetable Stinger is one of the best dishes to have as your favorite, easily fixing your hunger issues on top of their actual function of never making you have sanity issues.

All that for a faster hunger drain makes a very convenient gameplay for me, although evidently the majority of the forums would disagree and deem her a build and switch character.
