I'm bored so I made this list of things for members to tick off so after new Wigfrid's debut, they can hide their heads in shame about guessing wrong or boast and be petty about being right about their faux prophecies.

Discuss below anything I've missed out on because I currently have nothing better to do until Monday.

Forge like warcry buff is all but confirmed, and likely a few new items to match her spear/helmet.

I don't expect nerfs, I expect her warcry to put her from the PEAK of what a powerful character should be, straight into OP.

I really want to be pleasantly surprised!

I'll have to disagree with that. Warly's vegetarian dishes give great day to day benefits to other characters that Wigfrid cannot take advantage of. She can't glow for 3 days after eating glowberry mousse, she can't be as free as other characters in the winter after eating dragonfruit salad or have an almost permanent and easy access to spice effects from powdercake, instead having to opt for a more expensive spiced jellybeans.

Wigfrid's weakness can appear to be straightforward, but due to diet and small stomach, she's very far from an "optimal" pick.

I LOVE wigfrid, but she definitely needs a bigger downside than a small stomach that only eats meat

i think that for a noobfriendly character that is oriented to be strong, not being able to eat bluecaps and cactis is a good downside (idk why klei added taffy to her diet)

they did it to make her diet as relatable and almost desirable irl as possible. I also went through a point in time where I only ate meat and sweets.

Most of your points are valid, except for these 2

1: Just spice a taffy

2: While she can't eat it herself, she can feed it to her pet for the same effects

While you have a bunch of valid points, I still think she should have an additional mild downside, just to make sure she doesn't skyrocket to SS+ Tier

in my opinion wigfrid needs more mechanic only for her, in her current state i only see her as a "free spears and helmet but a bit better" with a few buffs and bat bat as her ability, also she needs more downsides, the only downsides she has is "only meat diet" but in later game the holy trinnity (pierogi, meatballs and meaty stew) comes in then the player doesn't need to care about her diet, sanity is easily restored because she gains sanity while fighting

The advantages to spiced powdercakes is they last forever. Taffy has a much faster spoilage rate. Thousands of times faster.

The point of spiced powdercakes is to get buffed at any time without really needing to unwrap a bundle.

I don't know what they're going to do with Wigfrid, but I have a feeling she still may not be as strong as wolfgang in the boss killing department. I don't think we really need to worry about her being "too strong"

Again, her diet is weakness enough. Veterans choose to live off honey day to day. 4-5 hour real time spoilage counter, no need to participate in combat every time you need to eat and easy to farm. The fact she can't eat it deters busier players who don't want to allocate time into hunting every meal.

Arguably, if you scatter loose bunny hutches around the world for wigfrid to eat, off of each bunny, she has a minimum of 25 less points of hunger per white bunny slain. If it's a bunny puff drop, that's a grand total of 0 food points for wigfrid where with any other character, a slain bunny on a puff roll is 25 points of hunger for the 2 carrots.

When the late game is concerned, it's a shortcoming she has unique to her. Even wortox gains more hunger points on a bunny puff roll when slaying a bunnyman than wigfrid does.

Just because wigfrid mains don't really mind her weakness doesn't make it not enough of a weakness.

I think her only meat downside is good enough rn but the problem is that because there isn't much to change in her kit and only room to add she will inevitably get stronger so a small extra downside to balance that wouldn't hurt.

I believe considering how all the other reworks have made characters easier to play- (Willow never having to actually fight Terror Monsters unless Bernie is dead, Wendy being able to build Sisturn, fill Sisturn with flower petal and then stand by Sisturn constantly gaining sanity...)

What I expect from a Wigfrid rework is that they’ll make her even more OP and will likely reduce or remove her downsides.

But with a game that can be as easy or as hard as you personally want it to be.... I don’t have any long lasting thoughts on Klei’s Work- I don’t second guess the removal of “Insert harsh crippling downside here.” Because- Just as easily as they make things feel easier, they can also at any time make your life a living hell with a simple update.

I like the idea of new battle mechanics for her, but what I'm really looking forward for her is her short. We know absolutely NOTHING about Wigfrid before she took on this persona, so she could be pretty much anything.

I chose a badass short for her. One of the coolest ideas I thought about was her performing on stage, but a terrorbreak or some other shadow monster interrupts the performance and attacks her. Wigfrid, being the best actress known to man, takes the terrorbreak down without breaking character. Think of the White trailer from RWBY, with Weiss singing on a stage but also attacking that knight at the same time.

A version of this is just her minding her own business in her home or the dressing room of the opera house where again, a terrorbreak attacks her. She forcibly takes on the persona of Wigfrid to defend herself from the terrorbreak, as she had her costume and spear on her at the time. This would later turn into a tearjerker moment; that she realizes she's safer as her persona, rather than herself, and clings to that.

Most likely not, it's a good downside, and fits her persona.

But did Vikings/valkyries really only eat meat?? Or did they also eat other foods outside of meat?

A better downside for Wigfrid- a More FITTING Downside for Wigfrid- And a Downside I doubt Klei will Give her is that she starts to slip out of her Viking Persona anytime she’s not doing “Wigfrid Stuff” Wigfrid stuff being- Hunting stuff, Killing Stuff, eating Meat, Etc...

So in other words- a long boat ride for a Wigfrid player would see her snapping out of her Wigfrid Persona and back into whatever her real persona actually was prior to losing herself in the role of method acting as Wigfrid.

This downside would be quite impactful- because if she doesn’t FEEL Like Wigfrid then she should lose her Wigfrid abilities of Vampiring Health & Sanity off Her kills- Her Battle Spears and Battle Helms will feel weak... and just share the same stats As a basic spear and helm- and until she feels like an actual Viking again

(Aka doing Wigfrid stuff like Hunting down, shouting at her enemies and stabbing them in the face with her battle spear)

Then she would just be a normal Wilson like character pick.

Utilize the Power of the Unicorn.... or The Unicorn Will buck you off while your riding across a rainbow, and watch you slide down the side of the rainbow while it laughs when you face plant the earth below in classic Cartoon fashion.

It’s Rather simple really- if Wigfrid lost her real identity in the art of method acting that she is Wigfrid a mighty Viking Warrior- Then when she is not method acting Wigfrid, she should start to show traces.. impactful good downside traces- of snapping out of it.

Edit: I should point out that simply eating meat should NOT be enough to make her feel like Wigfrid, more specifically it has to be the meat of something she has killed in glorious battle...

So fishing- Would be a very Un-Wigfrid thing to do.

Wolfgang 2 is what you're describing here, Gains strength when they do a certain thing, is wimpy when they aren't doing thing.

Ehh not really- while the concept is Wolfgang like.. it expands far beyond just “Eat Food. be Mighty..”

A Wigfrid who does not feel like she’s a mighty Viking Warrior May actually be an animal loving farmer who couldn’t hurt a Rabbit.. (we have absolutely no idea Who Wigfrid is outside of her Method Acting)

So for example- if she Is NOT Wigfrid then it would hurt her sanity to kill rabbits.. until she felt like she was Wigfrid again and in which case she would slaughter her foes in glorious spear fought battles.

For all we know the “Meat only Diet” could just be part of the role of method acting as Wigfrid, her Other identity- may very well someone who cares for animals- and therefore prefers to eat veggies over meat.

Not a straight up Vegetarian... not a Straight up Carnivore- But she will lose sanity when eating animals because she cares about them..

Technically- it’s a combination of Pre-Rework Werebeaver Woodie (where he had a different food diet when in Werebeaver mode) and Wolfgang (Where not doing Wigfrid-like things... will turn her into no longer being Wigfrid until she did Wigfrid things again.)

Wigfrid is my SECOND most played character in the franchise next to Wendy..... and I really don’t get why some people can’t get behind this idea- As a Secondary Wigfrid main I’m ALWAYS doing “Wigfrid Main” Approved things (like fighting Terrorbeak just because I easily can as Wigfrid) So someone who is playing Wigfrid and continues doing Wigfrid things... will stay very much Wigfrid-

But anyone playing Wigfrid and NOT making her feel like she’s Wigfrid, (such as standing around in base doing nothing, or planting boring farm crops she can’t even eat...) will start to lose Wigfrids powers.

It is faaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrr more complex beyond just eating a dish of Meatballs.

(Sorry Wolfgang mains I had to)

And that’s what Klei’s Reworks need to aim at- Complex, & Unique, but most importantly FUN gameplay that really draws out the characters personality..

However: I highly highly doubt this is the direction Klei plans to take Wigfrids Rework in, I only want to see small hints of who Wigfrid is outside of the Method acted Role she lost herself within by playing Wigfrid on Stage.

It doesn’t have to be as severe as the idea I suggested above-

But SOMETHING has to show a glimpse of this in her refresh, even if it’s only in her Animated short where we see her “Pre-Wigfrid” & she is lured into the constant by promises of getting to be a “Real” Warrior.

Created an account just to post in this thread, greetings all! Im a Wigfrid main on PS4 and just have to say I am strongly opposed to these ideas of her having additional roles and potentially eating non-meat products, I get that her Valkyrie persona is a role but it has essentially become who she is in the constant and having other roles would just completely change her characters playstyle. Lots of people seem to be unhappy with Walter and his plethora of various bonuses and cons and refer to him being too much like a modded character, I personally really like him (even if I don't play him much) but to me giving Wigfrid extra roles would certainly feel like a modded character especially if she had other names in these roles; winifred etc.

I am really hoping her core gameplay stays more or less the same and she simply gets a new battle centric ability and a couple of new cratfables. She is rarely considered top tier like Wolf, Wicker and co so I don't see the need for new cons especially considering the last few reworks have more or less just added buffs and no real new cons. As far as I can tell the vast majority of players consider Wig one of the most balanced characters and were surprised (it was a happy surprise for me!) that she is getting a rework before many others, so honestly big changes like new roles would likely be poorly received. I know that if they change her up too much or she becomes weaker in combat (rather than stronger) I will likely be looking at a new main.. especially considering she will just be seen as an even weaker Wolf than many already perceive her as.. until he gets his rework that is!
