Salt Formations

Recommended Posts

Is it just me or do the new salt formations resemble people? I might just be overthinking things, but they look like people that have been crystallized one of them even looks like a person cowering. We've already had instances of petrifaction with the the Petrified Trees and Moonrock Pengull. Does anybody have any theories on where these things came from?

well, we do know there was lots of people in the constant before "we" came.

the skeletons, the broken ships in shipwrecked and such. people Maxwell brought into the constant.

maybe they got petrified? we do not know, but that was also the first thing i thought of when i saw them.

Some examination quotes suggest they're odd too:

Maxwell = "Odd..."

Wickerbottom = "Intriguing... just how were those figures constructed?"

Wendy = "Those figures can't be natural."

Willow = "Huh. That's... weird."

Wolfgang ="Weird statues."

Wilson = "Are those natural formations?"

It could be a bible reference, or it could be something more, we dont know if its just a joke yet, I hope it is tho, it'd be a bit morbid to have charlie or the moon entity turn people into rocks

i'm pretty sure the fate of the ancient civilization was far more ... "morbid".

Ancient civilization people have escaped through the Atrium Gate and tried to destroy it (hence the damaged appearance) so the shadows can't follow them to their home world.

So the shadow monsters crawling out of their shells was... just for funsies?

And all those skulls on the mural just mean that the shadows caused so much disruption to law and order that large swaths of society turned to piracy.

So now the ruins are abandoned because they all hopped through the portal singing yo-ho, yo-ho a pirate's life for me, never to return from their new seafaring ways.

Sure.  That must be it.
