Dracian
Hi there, It seems new items are now available to Care Packages : As far as I know, Thimble Reed Seeds were not available via the Printing Pod before the very last updates. Strangely, this change was not advertised in the update log. If someone is in the mood to do some data mining, there may be new stuff to find. Cheers EDIT : obtained on a Terra asteroid type. Sebastiangperez
Question, Do they change the way that the packages appear ? , i mean, if you do not "discover" for example, steel, Don't you get it from there? Packages have different unlock requirements. Some are available from the start. Some are available after being discovered and some, I believe, unlock after a certain number of cycles. It would be nice if there was a way to disable certain care packages in order to remove them from the roll. Like if I have > X blossom seeds they cannot appear. Or maybe they could do it with a more gamey system where a high end scientist can hack the printing pod to let you influence the odds on care packages or force a desired package on the next print or something. Obviously, it's not something that can be added before release but it might be an idea for some post release content. My last rime colony went 200 cycles before I could get a slickster. Just my opinion though. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/109007-new-care-packages/#findComment-1227661 Share on other sites

Honestly, I'd like to see is them change the printing pod selection setup entirely. Rather than having 2-3 dupes and 1-2 items available, I'd like to see only a single dupe and 3 items. But, for the single dupe, give us the role selection options like when you start a new map and the ability to reroll randomized stats on the dupe. Basically the same UI given when choosing the starting dupes. If you tie the ability to tier 3 research skill and give it a large cost it can be balanced. Maybe you have to feed the pod 100 of an item to disable that item as a possible care package, or dramatically reduce its chance to appear. Early game the rng is a part of the game sure but late game you're just taking whatever is handy without any real need and on some worlds you're waiting a silly length of time for an off-world seed or critter and it just draws the game out artificially. You can already do this via save-scumming, and changing it to work more like the initial dupe selection would make that a non-issue. It would also help with the chance of getting the items you want, as each time there would be more selections available. You will probably love the mod that rerolls everything instead of reject all. Same as save scumming but takes less than a second. The game is at its best when you roll with the hand you are dealt and adapt to what you have. If you can always pick the best option and you always have access to whatever you need, then the game becomes less replayable. I’ve said it elsewhere already, but if care packages are to be changed, I would rather it was by disabling off-world seeds and critters. Of course, I am fine with this being an option. You would also be free to take whatever dupe was given and completely ignore the random button if you want to roll with the hand you are dealt. For some reason some people apparently want to be forced into a certain style of playing. I do not understand this desire at all, but I do not mind. But then they want everybody else to be forced into that style as well. And that I do mind, and very much so. pacovf
To be clear, I didn’t mean to attack you, but to offer a counterpoint. There are problems with your version of the printing pod for people that are ok with the current version, hence why I say I would rather have that as an option than as a change. Disabling care packages altogether is not great either, since it means critters can go extinct (which I believe was the reason care packages were implemented to begin with). There are problems for somebody with any and all changes and also with leaving any or all features unchanged. That goes without saying. This is not a "who screams louder and more frequent wins" type of thing that is going on in this forum here, even is some people do not get that. You have an opinion and I have one. Please stop claiming absolutes on matters of opinion. Please stop arguing with subjective preferences. There is no possibility to give a "counterpoint" to a subjective opinion or preference without it being a personal attack. You can say that you have a different preference and you can give reasons for that. But saying something along the lines that a preference of somebody else is "problematic" is always an attack. The only exception would be if it is not technologically feasible. bambalad
I believe the best thing to do is edit how dupe selection and the printer work. Point 1: Design dupes with positive and negative traits and only allowing printing when the dupes are 0 positive/negative. Point 2: The printer should not be automatically available for print based on time passed but instead be powered by the player and or loaded with other necessary dupe building requirements. I also feel that the care packages should be removed or if allowed then the player must research or find the desirable on the map to create a blueprint for printing. I just gave my opinion, just as they did, yet you are treating it as if I committed some horrendous breach of forum etiquette. At no point did I claim an absolute on anything. I literally started my post saying that it was my personal dislike of something that I was describing. You seriously need to stop reacting so negatively to everyone who posts an opinion you disagree with. It’s not a personal attack on anyone.
