Isn't the island adventures mod violating copyright?

Aren't they kind of violating Klei's copyright rules posting almost an entire dlc for free on the workshop?

I mean,  maybe if they made it all from scratch it'd be alright but people could still take advantage from that mod.

What do you think?

I still think it would be great to finish the mod. Klei will be giving us unique updates centered around the moon, while fans of this mod could experience boating with their friends with a Shipwrecked twist added in.

That, and I can't live without Coffee nowadays.

Hell, Klei's even helped them a bit, this applies to Forged Forge, too.

Klei's even recently helped the Playable Pets mod, by patching something in their system that caused it to crash.

They even gave me a Wortox blessing, too.

Overall, Klei is very loving and forgiving when it comes to us and our crazy mods.

Some game companies don't allow mods at all (or severely restrict them) because they think it infringes on their IP and ability to sell DLC content. And then there's Klei who actually help out their modders and give free stuff all the time. Name me a better games company.

I dunno, it depends on what you're shipping where. Things like illegal drugs and weapons are almost always frowned upon; other items may be subject to various tariffs or restrictions according to the area it's being shipped to.  Always check your trade agreements first!

Island Adventures dev here. Yes, we did get permission and Klei's blessing to continue work on the mod. Same deal goes for Forged Forge (which I am also a contributor for). They'll let us know if we overstep any boundaries.
In fact, we've been working closely with a couple of devs' input when it comes to making IA compatible with the upcoming Turn of Tides update when it's out of beta. After that, we'll be working on porting what little we have left to finish. (Yes, including coffee.)

Gotta love Klei as much as they love their modders. :encouragement:

To be completely honest I removed that mod because I was annoyed that I can't mark all that massive stuff in my chests and didn't notice that you guys actually made it work already.

And since we are out of topic already I will ask if you guys are planning on making this mod compatible with "Return Of Them" after official update? If yes I'm really curious how are you gonna menage to separate constant sea from shipwrecked waters. Personally I would love to see something like "Water Turfs" and adding somehow a mechanics that allow players to change sea to land and vice versa.

There's secret knowledge which we (as far as I know) only ever explained on our Discord chatserver: A debug tool called "terraformstaff". It already does this. :)

IA water is currently not 100% compatible with RoT water, but we're working with Klei to get that done. On our GitLab beta branch, we managed to make the moon islands spawn in the IA ocean, but not to merge the ocean types in a pleasant and reasonable way. We'll play around with it more, and in two weeks we'll see the results!
