My steam vent is eaten!

Recommended Posts

It's about a 25% chance you have a map who's only water sources are your default two cool steam vents. I have no idea what the odds are of having one overwritten, but i'd say it's pretty low. You should avoid gambling for the foreseeable future.

A friend of I, who i've fully converted to ONI (quite proud of it I should say), has his 2nd cool steam vent half stuck into the gravitas... Even the big decorating tablet is completely in front of it.

I have no news from him since he discover it, but I hope the tablet will not completely block the vent, as he cannot unbuild the tablet...

His other cool steam vent is incredibly skinflint. Adding the 2nd which is very far and maybe not able to produce steam if blocked, better for him to do not gamble those days neither.

I think those awkward stuff with vent, volcano, etc... should be strictly avoided by world generation.

I usually don't like revealing maps beforehand, but this time (and it happened often in the past too) I got 3 copper volcanoes and an iron volcano., And with the updated HUB i literally get too many refined metal, but instead I neither get chlorine nor Hydrogen nor cool slush geyser. Not saying that I must have all types of geysers, but still this is too much (also I got the natural geyser not eaten but still in the space so all gas is leaking out)

P.S.

Install the Dev Console and add a steam vent. :)

How do you do it? I struggled all the way to get geysers and just recently I added templates for them in the debug mode (which is very clunky)

How is it clunky? When you have debug_enable.txt in the root folder already and pressed backspace to open the menu, you either only have to select a template (which the Steam POI indeed are) or select an area to save as one.

What bothers me the most is rather it crashing if you accidentally type a ':'...

The prefabs have absolutely zero value and only get in the way. When you consider that they can overwrite important stuff too it's just frustrating.

In their current state, mostly unable to be deconstructed, I agree with this.  If they were changed to allow deconstruction, and were given some sort of buffer box on world gen to prevent them from overlapping, they would be fine.

you can also remove a geyser using the dev console. click the "clear selection" button then click the CheckMark box button above that button and select an empty area the size of the geyser then click the copy selection button two buttons to the right of the checkmark box button and overlay the white boxes over the geyser and click. after a brief moment the geyser will be deleted.
