Junksteel
I'm thinking about maybe making a colony only out of flatulent dupes. They do their thing while wearing atmosuit? Junksteel
Any idea how many dupes would be necessary to feed a single nat gas gen all time? Edit: I'm calculating like near 200 dupes... I hope this is wrong. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/104586-flatulent-dupe-in-atmosuit/#findComment-1174727 Share on other sites
tzionut
From what i remember 15 fart x 100 gr / cycle/ dupe... you can make the math. The challenge is to maintain void when you deconstruct the pipe, pump, etc. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/104586-flatulent-dupe-in-atmosuit/#findComment-1174738 Share on other sites
PhailRaptor
The inevitable flaw with any base containing Flatulent Dupes is that any system you build that depends on Vacuum or a specific gas, you MUST create a filtration redundancy to remove the NatGas. Since they fart through Exosuits, you can't reliably use Vacuum as a barrier to heat transfer, and must use Pumps to re-establish Vacuum continuously. Anywhere you are depending on a specific gas for atmosphere (such as Chlorine in your septic room, or CO2 in your Mushroom farm) you need to constantly recycle the gas and filter away the NatGas. You also need to safeguard your Exosuit Docks, to make sure they don't keep receiving NatGas instead of Oxygen. The simple fact is that until you get a veritable army of Flatulent Dupes, it doesn't produce enough volume to be useful, and creates a logistical nightmare for a number of colony life support procedures. pacovf
Wait wait. Flatulent dupes fart through exosuits? Also, how do they affect exosuit docks? PhailRaptor
15 minutes ago, pacovf said: Flatulent dupes fart through exosuits? Yes. Wherever they are standing, they produce a small mass tile of NatGas. Doesn't matter whether they are wearing an Exosuit or not. 16 minutes ago, pacovf said: Also, how do they affect exosuit docks? The packets of NatGas can be sucked into Air Pumps and get into the ventilation pipes servicing your various machinery. Depending on where you have your Exosuits sourced, it's possible to get packets of NatGas sent to your Exosuit Docks, causing damage to them from Wrong Element. If you're sourced inside an Electrolyzer setup you won't have an issue. If you're drawing ambient Oxygen from your base, from either a Terrariums or Deoxidizers, random packets can cause issues. I've been avoiding them so I never thought of this. That is a pretty terrible thing. You'd have to use door permissions to keep them out of specific areas. Nasty. I did a farting dupe colony, but it was a pain in the butt when it was time to make a vaccum room or one of those waterlocks, - the gas ends up screwing up the water locks. a full colony of farting dupes would probably need to use an open colony style game play Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/104586-flatulent-dupe-in-atmosuit/#findComment-1174784 Share on other sites
pacovf
I feel that if dupes don’t breathe out CO2 while in the suits, they shouldn’t fart through them either... Mullematsch
Luckily I stumbled across this thread. Currently playing a flatulent colony (spoiler, not worth the hustle) and I had no idea they fart through exosuits. That is interesting to say the least. From the description, I speculate that they do not fart at all. Instead they have a small bottle of "perfume" they like to use everywhere and that everybody else thinks is repulsive. Would explain their smiling when producing natural gas and how exo-suits do nothing. Developer Ipsquiggle Posted April 5, 2019 Developer Share Posted April 5, 2019 Just caught wind of this discussion, the suit situation stinks, and we're not gonna let it pass. I mean, we're having a look at just how "sealed" suits ought to be. ChickenMadness
In the next exosuit design they're going to be forced to breathe in their farts lol. OxCD
5 hours ago, tzionut said: no but at suit dock the output of dupes like co2 or nat gas can be released Fully agree. I thought many times about co2 when they're wearing exo. I didn't know the co2 was just "deleted", if I correctly get what was said before in this topic. I thought it was fully released in the air, even with exo. But my point of view is they should just release all co2 produced at the dock. That's the most logical, for me at least, and the less annoying. Indeed they could (will ?) screw up vacuum places if they can breath o2 and release co2 everytime, everywhere, while wearing exo.
