Drecko discrimination

Recommended Posts

Why is there no option to feed Drecko's from the Critter Feeder?

Drecko's eat Mealwood, Pepperplant or Balm Lily, and also Bristle for the Glossy.  We have the option to feed other critters these foods, so why not the Drecko's, they are Critters and they require food, which is what the Critter Feeder is intended for is it not?

My Drecko's are asking for equal rights, to be treated equally and fairly amongst the Critter population without the discrimination.

Dreckos eat the plant, not the stuff from the plant. I think it is just there for now as a placeholder so that dreckos "Think" they have a food source

They are a much better way of getting plastic than the polymer press.

Once you have all the sub-systems and cooling solution in place, the Polymer Press is a much much faster source of Plastic.  But that requires a significantly larger input of time, resources, space, and planning than setting up a Drecko Ranch.  Pros and cons.

Yea, probably... I just find that refining the oil and more so, dealing with the heat to not be worth it.  Much simpler just to ranch a few glossies and collect the nearly free plastic plus meat.

Actually, I find the Polymer Press very easy to set up early in the game, while I ignore Dreckos until very late.

I love that you can go 2 different paths for getting advanced materials in the game. Either full industrial with automation and heat production or more ecological using critters and more worktime of dupes. We just need a supercritter that produces steel and we can go for a fully biological colony.

I do to. It speaks very well of the game-design and it makes for a lot of strategies to try out.

That would be something!

Believe me or not but i was about to suggest a snail living in the oil or magma biome with a steel shell you could use after it died (but would be hard to kill and take like no damage from dupe attacks). I even thought it would eat sulfur.

Nature is amazing.

Did someone say... Supercritter?

I'd prefer something more like Piplup, where you Sheer the feathers.  Balance it out by giving them a fairly huge space requirement, so you can only have ~2 in a max size Stable.

But...we already have that...they're called Dreckos.

And people hate Greeckos.

I'd rather have a critter that's on fire. With the downside being...well it's on fire.

Think Extra Adorable Larvae from DST. Produces warmth, light, but catches things on fire, and needs to be fed ashes otherwise it'll burn your stuff for food...or die. If it dies it'll just drop more regolith. Why? Because:

Spoiler

WE!

DO!

NOT!

NEED!

ANY!

MORE!

REGOLITH!!!!

Don't you pretty much mean a new hatch variety that comes from smooth, as hatches produce both lime (In the form of eggs) and coal (The hatch is how you own coal power) and it could eat iron, plenty of it. Lots of steel and everyone is happy

Well kinda. But i meant a creature that can produce limited amount of steel without the need for the industrial infrastructure. This way you could go full bio but the tradeoff would be it requiring more attention and a complicated setup. Industrial would be faster and more efficient but produce more waste and heat.
