monster3d2015
Now that drip cooling is dead anyone have any good alternatives for cooling something like a steam geyser so it doesn't go over pressure? I have tried using an aetn but as soon as the hydrogen gas gets into the radiant pipe section it becomes the temp of the steam within like 2 or 3 tiles of pipe and it never cools down this way. Hellshound38
Going to depend on your geysers rates and whats available. For example I had 2 Steam geysers which total output was like 2 kgs (sadface) with all dormancy things considered, and a decent cold slush geyser. I would run the cold slush geyser polluted water though both steam geysers to prevent them from becoming too hot and not condensing, before I sent the polluted water to fertilizer synths. The hot water from the geysers I would send to an eletrolyzer, which removed half, and cooled the other half with aetn for use in farming. See thread "heat deletion machine" Radiant pipes bug, they don't cool anything, they just change their temperature to that of the environment. There are a lot of methods you can use, eg, normal pipes, tempshift plates/tungsten metal tiles/polluted water tanks for instance. Coolthulhu
If you preemptively cool down your NGG and petro gens and dump excess heat into fertilizer makers, you will have enough heat sink to cool down all your (cool) steam geysers for electrolysis. I haven't tried cooling water for farming since ranching, as eggs/meat are more sustainable and easier to set up than plants. My dupes are anti-vegans now. Not got one up on this colony yet but the principal is you cool the generator down to something like -200 and use a sweeper arm to scoop out the polluted ice it produces. The ice can be used to cool some other more convenient cooling medium for generic cooling. Nemez
[Game Update] - 266019 I think that is Fixed an issue where the energy being passed from the conduit contents to the pipe was inverted. monster3d2015
Lol they are definitely working now. I had 12 wheeze worts, a radiator of gas radiant pipe with like -100 hydrogen coming from an aetn, and radiant pipe radiator with 0 degree crude oil, and my electrolyzer room (with 8 electrolyzers)wouldn't go below 80 degrees in the bottom part and 120 in the top part. Today when I loaded up the game within like 2 or 3 cycles it dropped to like 40 degrees. A bit over kill perhaps lol. Thank you guys for the ideas and information. Oozinator
That takes so long = so much energy with radiant pipes I don't like how it works.. When i do it that way, pumping cold in the hotzone with radiant ZZZZzzzz.. At first cooler liquid gets hot / balanced / average temp and then it cools both down. The aquatuner liquid is sure heating up, could be used later or dumped, when to hot >175° That is so "intense" to build something like that, without debug (i started without), but was no fun.. beowulf2010
Yep. That easy. Pretty much the only thing you need pumps/loaders for is to get stuff into the pipes/conveyer. Anything with both an input and output will function to move things already in the pipes as long as there is room to move. Closed circuits are quite useful for bathrooms (needs an overflow) , carbon skimmers and radiators. Are they hooked to water purifier? I don't understand. I am assuming those two are hooked to a water purifier. Must be. Must be, must be, must be. Only thing with excess output there is bathroom plumbing. Radiators not so much, right? Will be angry when we can't use purified bathroom water with bacteria back into bathroom without some form of treatment or hot water tank. If they fix that they must provide a way to treat the water. I have seen bleach tablets suggested before, of course, not everyone has easy access to bleachstone. Spaghetti, spaghetti, spaghetti. monster3d2015
I want what your having please. I would think its hooked to a purifier yea....but I guess you gotta get rid of the extra water in the loops from the bathrooms once in awhile from what I have read. Yes it's with a water sieve. https://imgur.com/yGMA3qI Bridge into the loop somewhere with some water to get it started then it's self sustaining. Clean water preferentially takes the bridge until the pipes fill then it takes the overflow (represented by the vent). Alternately you can place the bridge/overflow before the sieve and collect excess polluted water if that is your desire. Please note the pipe running offscreen to the bottom right is the overflow sending excess polluted water to storage for later use. The reason this works is that anytime a bridge or valve comes off a pipe, the liquid or gas will always use the bridge first so all polluted water will try to go to the sieve first and only what won't fit into the piping will continue down to the storage chamber. And yes, at some point I'll probably have to deal with the germs too but for now, this works really well.
