grekon
Is there a way for me to world hop like in single player? You know, generate a new map while keeping my research progress and items I hold?
MrKoopa
You mean like between a shiprecked world and a RoG world or adventure world? Nope.

How about between caves and RoG while I play solo? or resetting the RoG map?
MrKoopa
You can go to a cave and back and not loose anything. If I'm not mistaken you can remove the caves and have a new cave and you keep your stuff(but not the stuff that was in the cave). If I'm not mistaken you can't reset a RoG map and keep your stuff. Auth
There is no teleportato in-game, but through some file-scooting you can pull it off.
Rellimarual
If you regenerate the cave shard while you are in the cave, you will lose everything and go back to the character selection screen as if you were an all new player.
Josonic
No, world hopping is not a thing in DST as of yet. I really hope they manage to do it someday though. I'm sure they've thought about it but must quite complicated to accomplish and opens up new ways to grief people. It would be nice if they at least had options like this or old bell for people who play solo
grekon
Oh well, guess i'm just gonna pray for A New Reign DLC for DS single player. :/
brbrmensch
you can have as many shards as you wish each with different mod\preset\size\etc, you can also regenerate\change certain shards whenever you want (like already said, don't forget to exit it though) and by shard (as said too) i mean the stuff that is on the one map, so, entire surface or entire cave
AnonymousKoala
Instead of world hopping though, almost everything is renewable, and Ruins(the important part of world hopping) can be reset every 20 days by killing a certain boss.
CaptainChaotica
Actually...there is a mod for it, and it's called the Teleportato mod. (Apologies if you're on a console and I'm just being a dumb.) Haven't fully tested it out yet, but watch out--on normal settings each Thing is guarded and I mean GUARDED. I mean like large numbers, cave-only monsters... So if you do activate this mod in your world don't just run willy-nilly at the Teleportato pieces...and hope there isn't too much random newbie-death. : P ...Notorious

Do I need to do anything complicated to have caves solo?
CaptainChaotica
Hmm? As far as I know, you just activate caves in the world-gen settings and then set the number of players to 1. I tried that once in an experimental world, and I got cave entrances scattered around like usual. (shrug) ...Notorious
Arash70
Dst doesnt really need world hopping Its focus is mostly on teamworking, not problem solving. So a second layer world to make new challenges and moving items would be meaningless. That aside, one interesting experience is hosting an alone game (setting players to 1) after few world generations it will make you your perfect world. Just once you die dont delete it, regenerate the server.
