I'm surprised that to my knowledge, none has complained about this.

Essentially, the reading of The End Is Nigh, in the way it has been reworked to function in multiplayer, flashes the screen. Now, real-life lightning do flash like that, so it working the way it does is a bit understandable, but the way the book is rebalanced is a huge problem.

May be make all of the 16 lightning strikes strike at the same time, but two strikes not being possible to hit the same target at once, unless the target has some lightning rod components to it (i.e. volt goat, lightning rod, WX-78)?

In single player the lightning strikes struck all one frame after another, so seizure flashing didn't occur, it was all brighter for the brief few frames and then over. Why was it removed? OP in that it could kill other players easily? Well, why not have them kill our character rather than literally killing our eyes?

The flashes aren't as bad as the Pokemon Porygon episode, but it's still a heavy problem and can cause your eyes to hurt a bit. I experienced that today as it was all flashing way too fast from 5 The End Is Nigh books being read.

EDIT: Just don't rebalance it in a way that makes the book useless/not as worth while to use in order to charge WX players for multiple days. Please, he already got a good system overload nerf.

Well how it is now, the lightning stuns players making it easier to keep them in one place while you read the book more.

I also agree that the flashing should be changed so there isn't a chance of seizures.

I do say, this does cause a problem for my friend since he has epileptic seizures, @V2C @ScottHansen, is ok if you look into this? (sorry for the pinging)

It is actually very important to be able to optionally disable all quick flashing light effects for epileptic seizure patients.

I think there should just be an option to remove or tone down the lightning flash, because if it was toned down or removed with no option for how it is now then I'd be sad since I like how it is now... And imo allowing players to configure stuff for themselves is very important aspect of games :D!

After testing it, the effect is really mild and OP is grossly exaggerating.  The screen flashes dark not bright, and anyone who is actually epileptic can avert their eyes, close one eye, or more likely aren't sensitive to it.

I'm not against a mode that adjusts it, but I don't think screen flashing in dst is actually a concern to epileptics.  There are better uses of developer time.

It does flash black, not white. In fact, if you continuously strike lightning at a rod, players outside its light radius will get killed by Charlie, regardless if its day or night.

You basically get considered to be in the darkness, even if you were holding/near a light source. If you were using any stationary containers they do get closed.

Another unfortunate new fad among developers is the use of effects so bright that is causes screen flares. Never used to be like this, then suddenly every time a knight swings their sword a technicolor light-show explodes out of it. Makes it impossible to play certain games with sensitive eyes, the feature to turn off bright particle and screen effects should be rudimentary.

But then again so should left-handed alternate control setups but regardless, epilepsy is an actually dangerous condition. The presence of any effect that even remotely looks like it could cause a seizure should be either warned, or removed.

You so consistently arrive at bold conclusions based on incorrect information that disagreeing with you increases my confidence I'm on the right side of a discussion.

"The presence of any effect that remotely..."

I have a friend who is epileptic and have done in-home care for severe epileptics.  I've timed their siezures, administered anti-siezeure medications according to protocols and was once very close to calling 911 because it wasn't stopping.

So it makes me really angry when you and some other truly ignorant people use a serious disease to try to shame the developers and show how much they "care."

If you cared, you'd take a few minutes to educate yourself and actually know what you're talking about.
