Nice job with using the lobster claw as a focus in perspective. Wendy's light makes a nice viewpoint, like a false well-opening.

Counter-argument: don't forget that Wilson built this machine (just look at that status message). Floating gears? Nah, that's just a tip of the iceberg. He probably stuck them in that slot in the side of the machine for a more sciency look.

Hmm... Let's say: it's Wilson we're talking about; He makes little to no sense when it comes to logic. So floating gears are a science for themselves as far as we know.

 

Plus the artist has no clue about how to draw mechanical parts etc. :T
