As it says on the tin.

I have developed a collection of skins, most of which I never use. I have already sent a bunch of the best ones like Maxwell's survivor head, Willow's triumphant and survivor clothes to friends... But I like to keep my inventory tidy. I doubt anyone wants these things, so I am considering burning them in the fires of the trade inn. The question is, do you think it's a sensible idea? I doubt someone will come and offer a trade for this stuff... and I got a bunch of commons to trade them with @captainchaotica, yet she changed the offer, so the situation is a tad pressing for me.

Can i be your friend?

And regarding the topic: I would sell them on the community market.

For example: The cheapest  common is selling for 3 cents, if you sell for 3 cents you gain 1 cent, wich means if you sell 9 you gain 9 cents wich is enough to buy the cheapest classy (that is 5 cents) and now you have a classy and 4 extra cents. and now the cheapest spiffy is 14 cents. if you sell 9 $.05 classy you get $.03 for each one so in total you gain $.27 cents. so now you have a spiffy and $.14 cents extra!

But in the example i am talking about the cheapests skins of each category, you can sell some that have higher price!

Mostly nay because it's NINE FREAKIN' ITEMS FOR ONE OF A HIGHER TIER! If it was 4 to make one trade, it would mostly be yay for me. Because really, it's more likely that it'll be cheaper for you to sell common crap on the market to collect enough cash for a Distinguished or an Elegant, or even just a Spiffy if that's what you wanna buy. Plus, you get 4 skins per week, so, it would kinda make sense if it was just 4 and not 9?

I read the theory, it is, let's say, good practices, I am missing. I guess I will try that anyway. Not knowing what those little bits are actually worth will be hard though ;).

the trade in is horrible :( don't do it! just give them away :3

@FaeLove: I want to stay safe from getting trades outside of the trading forum, so let's move this discussion to Steam if it's alright with you.
 Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to buy a skin for someone else?

I simply offer a trade with just the gift included, no items in return. Steam asks if I'm really that deranged. I confirm. The recipient just has to accept it.

Except you need a trusted partner for that, since people tend to assume the gift is a scam. Yeah, the story of my life: being whacked with a hambat for gifts.

Once again thanks for the explanation, it's brilliant. And I'm waiting for your request on Steam if you're of a mind :).

I'd do it for the thrill of the surprise.

Well, that's the only reason (apart from waiting) to use the inn at all. Some people would get distinguisheds from trading in commons. The chance is almost non-existent, but still.

Besides, I'm curious.
