BTW. @Altehaus @Asparagus

Don't Starve Together is the 51th Top Games By Current Player Count with 7,555 players.... how just HOW are they low on funds?

Those 7555 players include the owners of DS that received it for free when DST was released (like me) and also the people who received it for free from friends who bought it, since buying DST yields two copies. As Schism said in a post below, "I suggest splitting that number exactly into quarters, then get rid of three".

And what makes you think absolutely all of them would give money to Klei for nothing? Also, $1000 can pay what, two or three people for a single month at a decent minimum wage?

Their current priorities are getting DST on PS4, Oxygen Not Included, and Through the Ages, as well as Shipwrecked on PS4. Not everything is "Code this, code that, DONE." Things take time, and money in this case. These updates cost money, as they need to PAY the workers to fix the game. It isn't an act of kindness, trust me on that, they need time and money on each of these. The devs are working their butts off on ONI, DST PS4 and porting SW to PS4. I say deal with what DST has now (which I don't think is all that broken honestly) or think a little more than you did here. Nothing is free to developers when making and working on games. So they need to prioritize the larger projects first, and do the smaller ones last. DST PC is pretty much complete and has the very small bug every now and then... And Movement Prediction, but that can be turned off. Trust me, the DST PS4 Beta, SW PS4 port and Oxygen Not Included are bigger projects, as they're bound to have more issues and require more attention than DST PC. Time needs Money, and that isn't going to change.

As for the many sayings of DST having a ton of people playing it who bought the game, I suggest splitting that number exactly into quarters, then get rid of three. Many people got the game free as DST offers two copies, and even for betas for those who already owned the original DS, and even if they do get $1000 from this, explain how they'll split this between an entire team and still get a good fare out of this, while also adding funds to updating DST, porting DST to PS4, SW to PS4 and Oxygen not Included. Go on, I'll wait.

I'll even quote Asparagus on this one.

Quote

"Because releasing new games and expanding to consoles will bring in funds that will be used to pay the people who'll fix the bugs in DS and DST which have already been sold and are no longer generating revenue (except from the little income they get from skins bought and sold in the steam market)?" - Asparagus 2016

Long story short, not everyone paid for DST, and they need to allocate money to EACH of their projects.

@mathem99 That's very ingenuous to think that just making fundraisers whenever you need money works. By your logic, any company that has a game with a playerbase of a few thousands could just live off asking its community for money here and there, which is not something we see. If that strategy really worked, why don't we see more people doing it? Fundraising to be able to give better support just sounds like they're making the community pay for updates for a game they already bought.

And we all know Klei isn't EA.

There are more people other than 200. I see sometimes 2,000 people on the community hub... (Right now as I speak 19:41 there are 5,215 players in-game if as someone else said DST AND DS collide the players in-game there are only 3,022 people in DST)

So let's say 50% of those 2,000 people donate 5$ on the "fundraiser" you get 5,000$ (If I'm not wrong)

10% of those people donate 20$ so they'll get 4,000

And the other 40% didn't donate anything. (Or they weren't interested in the game)

They'll get 9,000$ may not be enough for them but this amount wouldn't it at least 'help' them a little bit?

Because WE want to give them some funds? I bet there are some people who would like to help Klei.

Then buy things from the Klei store! If you can afford to contribute to the fundraiser, you can raise some money for yourself and spend a few dollars up there. You even get some cool merch.

They don't need to specifically ask for money to receive it. As I said, that just would make them sound like they're making the community pay for updates.

Should I make a second collection?

I can buy some stuff from the store , yeah... that's a good idea.

Again, their projects needs money, and they allocate whatever they get to what they believe needs the most work right now.

DST is a complete game, older than others, while newer games are bound to need more maintenance. $9,000 may be a lot to us, but to developers, they need to use a lot of it, especially if they have multiple products.

THEN BUY A GOD DAMN SPIDER PLUSHIE! If you already have a set, BUY A NEW GAME FROM KLEI AND TRY THE THING OUT. They don't need to ask us, you can just buy stuff they already have and support them. Your logic is saying that they're basically telling us that if we don't pay for the updates, then they won't get it, when in reality they aren't, and they're relying on us BUYING THEIR PRODUCTS.

If you feel so much like throwing money at them, why not? Gift your friends or something.

See? c:

All's well that ends well, all's well that Maxwell.

As @Altehaus said, if you feel like we should help and give them money... Hmm...

First of all, calm down good sir, and second of all you have a VERY good point, I didn't think of it that way.

I was acting a little aggresive because we've been saying this for a bunch of posts, and you weren't getting it. But yes, we're all annoyed that DST isn't getting that big update we all want, but priorities are priorities. /:

Overall, thank you for actually accepting it. I run into too many people who absolutely hate changing their beliefs on steam forums and others.

It's ok (:

Good that we got to a friendly agreement here (that seems to be quite rare these days)

Hey now, let's not justify aggressive behaviour here. In these discussions we should always try to keep our calm. If someone really doesn't want to change their mindset, just leave the discussion at that, no need to get heated c:

Could a moderator delete the stuff above? My phone is stupid and I can't get rid of it...

I for one could not afford to spend 500 bucks on toys. But regardless, even if we support them the best we can and they finish their new bloody games. Will they even go back to DS and DST to do a whole bunch of clean up? I don't think so. It's better if they deal with these problems while there is still thought about the games so that it can more or less be forgotten about later on. Because Klei's just piling up **** they gotta do and it's not a good thing neither for them nor for us.

And god, even the forums need fixing! Where's JoeW or whoever works on the technical parts of the forum when you need them?!

I think yes. Their latest full game, Invisible Inc., has been released and hasn't clouded DS or DST in any aspect. I believe that they would only move so much attention to a new game if it adopted a cult following like DS did, and even then they still have the Don't Starve following to take care of. Let's remember that if they just released the game (DS) and left it like it was at launch, none of the problems we have today would ever even exist. It was the drive to keep this game alive that resulted in so much growth and demand of resources and attention, a drive that only exists because of the community. If we let this pessimism take us over and make us lose faith in Don't Starve and Together, what drive would there be left to keep them alive?

@Altehaus @Schism_989

As much as I would love to give money to klei I'm don't think I can afford a $61.99 Depth Dweller Spider plushie. The price  is a bit outrageous I would give a reasonable 20$ for them, but I'm not planning spending  $61.99 any time soon... sorry... others may want to spend a bundle of money for the merch but not me.

That's ok. Maybe see if you can contact anyone at Klei and ask for a way to donate money to them, maybe a bank account number you can deposit on. If they accept it, you've got there your way of contributing.

WHY DOESN'T THROWING MONEY IN THE SCREEN EVER WORK?!

WE NEED THIS TECHNOLOGY

@ImDaMisterL it would be great if whenever everything goes to become as empty and barren and silent like a huge desert, they updated us on how things are and whether we should expect things soon or much later and what they have planned; a roadmap basically. So that people like me wouldn't have to make threads like these. Great to hear some news on SW, though more new creatures and more in terms of volcano would be great as well *cough*fourthgiantwhichisfireormagmarelated*cough* What about DST? Will there be more hotfixes for it as well? And is TTA in progress?
