Is there anyway to report griefers?

Recommended Posts

The title says it all, i was playing today DST in a klei official server, to be exact, hound huggles, and a griefer came and burned my base at day 94, i had everything, such as shadow manipulator etc.

I make this thread to ask if there is anyway to report these type of people who just enjoy ruining the other people's experience of the game, thank you.

Aditionally, this guy is the griefer, and i have pics of him griefing my base too, he might change name so this thread is also to warn people about this guy, if you see him, kick him inmediatly to avoid what happened to me.

Thanks for any answers about this, and watch out with this people.

Unfortunately no. It's no business of Klei to do that. Officially banning people could become bad in so many ways, so it's avoided. Or at least that's what I'm assuming is the reason. As it stands, there is no way of dealing with griefers without having the host or an admin online for a server and recently, although I made a suggestion to a way of doing so. Atm, I would just suggest having a flingomatic cover your base, have Water Balloons on hand and Ice Staves and if you're in spring, getting a Luxury Fan for keeping your base from burning down at least for a while.

Who moderates the Klei official servers anyway? Do admins even play there at all? I think it relies solely on the automated systems like vote kicking(Which seemed broken the last time 8 of 12 people tried to kick a player on a server I was playing on) and vote roll backs.

To my knowledge, there's only one administrator, and he only has the rank on a single server (Clayfish).

So...virtually nobody, that makes official servers a "paradise" for people with malicious intent.

As cezarica and others said, your safest bet would be playing on a non-official server. :<

klei make me an admin pls! your servers are chaotic.

They also have insane lag, so I haven't played on them since the one time I tried it.

On my own server, it's not running unless I'm there, and I have ZERO tolerance for that kind of arseholery.  (Luckily I'm small and unknown enough that it hasn't happened YET, but...) So with me, you could at least count on a rollback.  With other servers, however, it's up to whatever the circumstances happen to be there.  (shrug)

Ah, yes... I was on that server... We had such a good time, and then that (excuse my language) fricking ******* came by and burnt it all down...

It was such a sad, sad day...

I will remember the name...(which will not be said here for certain reasons)

The lagg has been 'fixed' or at least become less with a recent update, I believe.

What's the point of griefing in a game like Don't Starve together? I can imagine this working in TF2 where the goal is to stop others to give your team the benefit to get the briefcase, but I thought the goal of Don't Starve Together was to either work together to get a decent supply for your camp or to maintain from the wilderness. What's the benefit of hurting other players when all players are trying to avoid the same thing?

Klei servers are a paradise for griefing, so don't ever go on them if you plan on making a base (unless you want to nomad, or build cave bases), because someone can and will easily grief you constantly. It's too common of an issue to be ignored, considering this happens on the COOPERATIVE servers. They'll just abuse the bad votekicking system anyways by leaving and rejoining when they get voted on, and vote against rerolls or burn everything before the morning passes. By then it'll be too late to reroll. Or they'll just wall off the portal and spam On Tentacles on it.

As with what everyone else said, just play with friends or on servers where someone can ban/kick/reroll instead of relying on the votekick system. It's too easily abused. There are generally better servers that don't constantly stutter and slow down anyways...

Well, the voting system doesn't work at all, when you literally try to rollback/restart the world by votes, even if you win the voting, it doesn't rollback/restart, so yeah.

-EDIT-

Nevermind, the voting system seems to be fixed with the newest update.

As stated above, it is not Klei's responsibility to handle griefers, and should be moderated by the server admin, hence the reason why they can kick/ban. My only advice is to find a better place to seclude your base.

They could at least put an Admin on their own servers, or better ban options, because as said before, the official servers are just a griefer's paradise.

Edit: Oh, I just read that someone who was vote kicked can't join immediately in the latest update, I guess that'll help.

Some are patient and wait until they can rejoin, seen it myself.

So then how about having your inventory dropped, your map gone and you sent back to portal/ spawn point far far away from any structures?

That isn't a good idea. People can go server to server in groups and grief by abusing the Kick function.

So can be the 10-minute delay upon being kicked. Or being kicked in general! Though how often a group-griefing is done? Like nearly never. At least from my experience.

Being a festering genital sore for fun.

Seriously, I've never gotten that mentality, but "Dur hur they're all upset, BWAHAHAH look at them all running around yelling, tee-hee" has been a thing since the dawn of...life.  I myself run very much on the "I'll leave you alone as long as you leave me alone" principle--but that's why griefers grief.  Because they can.

Ever notice that they never like, actually _play_ for any length of time?  No, they just come in and grief instantly. This way, only OTHER people are losing anything, not them.  They haven't built anything up.

Take note of the following grieving players:

Mizeri, http://steamcommunity.com/id/mizeri120/
Clouds, http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198322266023/
Eni, http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198278360845/ or
Flip, http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198112823377/

If they join your server, ban them right away!  They will try to muscle on, spam vote for a restart, start spam votekicking people to get their own numbers up on the server, and generally annoy people until they leave, then when their numbers are high enough, just vote restart your server.

They were doing it on all the north american Klei official servers between 23:00-0:00 AEDT on 6th Oct 2016 (possibly longer, I stopped tracking them).  They would systematically reset one server, then muscle onto another, reset it, etc, etc  This is beyond simple mischief, it is systematic griefing, and if Klei is going to do nothing about it, they should all be reported to Valve in the hope of VAC banning them.

This is beyond griefing though, they're not just exploiting a loophole in the game to their advantage, and making themselves more competitive on a PvP server or something childish like that, they are systematically going from PvE server to server, resetting them all just for laughs.  They then leave the server, and don't even play on it.  The mechanic is there so if the world has gone bad, then reasonable people can decide together whether to reset it and start again, building the new world up together.  These guys are organised criminals, coming on to perfectly good worlds where people have invested 3+ hours setting up a great in-game community together, and ruining it.  It is not conducive to a "safe and friendly" community as Steam puts it, and Klei needs to man up and start getting involved in these sorts of disputes, because it's not just about gameplay any more, they are totally ruining the game for others.  They should appoint more admins, or change the votekick / restart mechanic so this sort of abuse can't continue.

So the official servers are completely unplayable because of the griefers that RustyNayle reported above. They constantly join a server, kick everyone, then log off so no one can play on it.

If you continue to allow this to happen, you might as well shut down the official servers since they are useless except to these griefers.

Please change the Vote Kick system so that you have to be on the server for 3 days before you can initiate a vote.

Thanks
