Double Typo! Triple Typo?

Recommended Posts

Klei, I'm not sure if these were fixed in the most recent update, but my friends and I found some typos in the newer (?) text. Wolfgang's and Woodie's Depth Worm quotes both feature a typo. Wolfgang's is "might" instead of "mighty" feet. And Woodie spelled Lucy wrong, she will never forgive. Wigfrid's quote also seems to have some issues in regards to the rose. I'm not sure if it's really meant to be worded as such, but it seems she should indicate with a "that" or "who" after "I." Wolfgang also seemed to be lacking a quote for when Hutch was currently dead on the fish bowl, he'd use the same quote but Wilson and Woodie both had new quotes.

I think Woodie's one is intentional. 'Luce' looks like a shortened nickname for Lucy. It's highly possible. As for the others, they could definitely be typos (never thought I'd see the day with DS having typos in it XD). Wigfrid's one just sounds confusing :/

I feel like Wigfrid is trying to quote Romeo and Juliet but she's completely messing it up (a rose by any other name would smell as sweet). So maybe it's intentional if she's a performer but also still a little girl who can't remember lines? Still sounds weird.

She's not a little girl though.

Welp, I don't know her age tbh. Adults and teens can be terrible at remembering lines, too!

Basically everyone but Wendy and Webber are adults.

Willson's in his 30s I think, and Willow's in her 20s(again, i think, cant remember exact age).

Early 30s.

early 20s Also I think only Wilson, and Willow have confirmed ages, still don't know why they haven't given her a lore vid/comic if they kind of use her as a poster girl.

Yep Woodie called Lucy "Luce" it's probably a couples thing.

Wicker's 10 years old, that's for sure.

I see nothing wring with Wigfrid's line... it's more as @Lysh stated, from Romeo and Juliet... try comparing that to Macbeth and other Shakespearean literature... it shouldn't sound as odd by then...

Then again, I could be completely wrong and off-base O__O

Thanks Vex! One of those is indeed a typo, the other two are intentional. I'll let you guess which ;p

I'm pretty sure that Luce is a nickname for Lucy, and Wolfgang's is a typo.

Wigfrid looks like she trying to use Shakespearean English but is doing it improperly. The correct phrase would be, "Would that I smelled half as sweet." In archaic language, "would that I" meant "I wish that I," as in the sonnet In Praise of Beauty: "Would that I could give all and more, my life/ My world, my thoughts, my arms, my breath, my future..."

The real question is whether it's an error with tricky, old-fashioned grammar on Klei's part, or whether it's an intentional slip-up for Wigfrid, who is after all a 1920s-era lady playing a part.

Well, I mean, there isn't anyone to critique her acting in the DS world, so I doubt anyone would fault her for saying something wrong --- or at least, weird sounding.

The line is different enough that she's not trying to quote it, just reference it.
