Or maybe since it's a toad, and has three eyes, maybe it'll try to hypnotize other players at a maximum of three(random at picking targets?) thus incentivizing you needing 4 people to take it down...TOGETHER!

All Glory to the Hypnotoad

I can see it being a cave Beefalo. And you can shave it to get those mushrooms.

Or a boss. Dunno. Looks really cool, though. Can't wait to meet it in-game!

cave beefalo = huge toad with shrooms.

Yes. please.

Are you really sure that this creature will be a caves boss, after all, it's too early to speculate. We musn't jump to conclusions. Although a caves boss designed for multiplayer would be interesting, dare I say, quite the leap in design for the current state of the caves. Either way, this boss or enemy could be quite the fun guy to fight.

Please don't hurt me.

I really really wish for klei to implement some new fighting mechanics for bosses/enemies that make the game really hardcore.

Ewescus is really fun to fight for example. Another overlooked creature is the cave bat, the way they gang up on the player is a unique behavior, and this is the kind of new stuff I would like to see.

But pretty much any new creature that can't be killed solo would be a welcome sight!

It's kinda creepy but I have away's loved that part of DS ! Also I bet it has something to do with the mush....trees/spores . (we don't have purple shrooms in DS ... for now )

Maybe he spawns if you chop to much Mushtrees,

there is no Mushtree Guard and those trees are an insane source of filler, sanity and health food items+logs.

The Toadstool could balance there overabundance!

What? Jump to conclusions!? Heh heh, "fun guyi" (fungi).

Spoiler

The toad is a space monster from one of Jupiter's moons (Europa?) and is somehow in the caves because it likes fungus and... yeah.

Spoiler

And it is totally the new cave beefalo! You can shave it for 1 of each mushroom and feed it mushrooms. It can pop out spores of a random colour every 2 game days and can be found in the green mushroom biome

Spoiler

Not really.

As someone who grew an affection for frogs and toads, I approve of this creature. Part of me hopes for him to be peaceful in a way similar to Beefalo with benefits,  but they could also easily be aggressive as well so I won't count on it either way.

I like a mysterious swamp beast. Maybe he could be some kind of new seasonal koalafant-esque creature?

Oh god that will be so cool.

Imagine the mushroom just rising up like glow berries when a depth worm has been aggroed and revealing the toad.

The resident Mycologist is here and in my expert opinion;

"I wouldn't go near that if I were you..."

I appreciate it for its fungi appearance!

I never thought about your name until now o_o

I worry about the ideas generated on these forums sometimes. I worry because Klei read this and then you end up with a giant Goose Moose that lays eggs and messes up your life. Or a Honey badger that will destroy all the things just to get some honey. I am now mildly concerned I am going to be eaten by a toad now.

I would be thrilled to be eaten by a toad.
