Wiffleball's eyes finally adjusted to the relative darkness to find that he wasn't in a cave, as he'd expected, but a house. Direcly above him was a shelf, stocked with an array of odd trinkets. Presumably, he had fallen from there. The house's inhabitant, a boar, was looking down at him; after a moment of decision, it grabbed him with its hoof and returned him to the shelf.

Panic began to rise in Wiffleball's chest. Earlier, he'd heard Kate speaking, saying something. What did she say? He racked his mind, trying to remember...she had been describing something. White pads and red lines. Then, he realized: Kate had been describing him. She was looking for him, and this boar was holding him hostage.

The panic turned to anger, and then, to rage. He wanted nothing more than this boar to suffer.

And this time, there would be no Kade to stop him.

Kate heard a crashing sound from the jungle, then a loud, pig-like squeal that seemed to echo across the island.

Syndir dropped his head and had a brief moment of silence—the action just so happened to make him look like a limp corpse.

He wasn't oblivious to the what the sound meant, and while he knew the very thing that had killed the boar might be dangerous, he was not fearful in the present moment.

(Shush, I was thinking of what to say for an hour)

Kate turned around at the sound of the crash and the squeal. "Kate, I think we should check that out. I have a feeling it has to do with Wiffleball." After a pause, her and Kade backtracked to the pig house.

(Sorry for the wait!)

The boar's house had been reduced to nothing but a pile of rubble, streaked with black. For a few moments, nothing happened; then, the debris began shaking slightly before an inky black tendril shot out, sending smaller chunks of bamboo flying. A second tendril pulled its way out, then a third, before Wiffleball himself emerged from the ruins, more tentacles forming from his back and finally culminating in a dripping mass.

Wiffleball noticed Kate, and shot her a glare devoid of any kindness it may have once had.

Perhaps it would be a good time to run.

Noctimus turned around to see what all the commotion was. He saw Ma standing in a pile of rubble. Ma wasn’t himself anymore… Ma was a monster.

The one person he loved most.

The one person he trusted most.

The one person that gave him a loving home.

Was a monster.

Tears stained Noctimus’ face.

. . .

. . .

Thoughts flew through Noctimus’ mind

He could run.

He could scream.

He could hide.

. . .

. . .

Wait.

Was that Lil’ Master next to him?

She would most certainly die. . .

Nobody would love Noctimus. . .

. . .

. . .

No.

Noctimus would not let this Monster take Lil’ Master away from him.

With all his strength and his courage, Noctimus sped towards Kate and grabbed her by the blanket/cape thing with his mouth, and started running away as fast as he could. Strangely, Noctimus didn’t seem to have a hard time pulling Kate along.

(More crappy puns for your enjoyment!)

(I guess Noctimus will be calling Wiffleball "momster" from now on.)

Meritursas is blissfully unaware of the catastrophic situation he could easily clear up on the other side of the island.  Looks like Kate and Noctimus will have to deal with this little problem without the help of OP sea monster guy.

Kate stood in shock, unable to register what her friend had become and what he had done. Wh-why was he looking at her that way? Didn't he recognize her? "W... Wiffleball?" She called out in her daze, and found herself trying to reach her hand out to him.

Suddenly, she was pulled back. Something had grabbed onto her blanket and was dragging her across the ground and away from Wiffleball. She started to protest, but Kade stopped her. "That isn't Wiffleball." She stared at her brother in confusion, but then understood. Her friend wasn't himself.

Noctimus' alarmed squeaking finally brought her out of her daze, and she scrambled up, turned around, picked up the pup and ran towards the orange dog and the fish lady.

The dragon was having a wonderful dream about shiny hoards.

Mmmm... shiny hoards.

(Intermission? Sounds like the perfect time for...)

Syndir decided to make the most of his time in the current position, so he reached into his cloak and retrieved his instant coffee kit pouch of coffee beans along with a hand crafted bamboo mug—made just for this purpose. Nothing compared to a good cup of fresh coffee after dying, reanimating, engaging a formidable crabbit, joining forced with said crabbit (and a peculiar collector)... Just as that saying went: If you can't beat em, then join em until you can.

...

Unfortunately, Syndir had no hot water—or any water whatsoever.

"THAT'S IT. I SHOULD HAVE DIED AFTER ALL."
