Caves Beta - October 30th Update

Just confirming Exhu's bug. I saw something similar happen to someone in single player vanilla. She was playing Wilson, and was indeed carrying meat at first, and the bunnies killed her. She went back into the caves to retrieve her stuff, but the bunnies were still aggro even though she was not carrying meat anymore. She ran around with the bunnies chasing for about 20 seconds until they killed her again. Each time she entered and exited the caves, her game crashed as well. I assume whatever happened with the bunny aggro there might be in the game still.

@Exhu, is they have the 'monster' tag then the bunnymen will attack the character; without meat in their inventory.

 

I experienced that, too. I guess, you dropped the meat, when you were near of the bunnies houses and therefore, they already get aggressive to you and like to attack you, but they need to stay at their houses until dusk. Try to drop the meat or your backpack farer away.

Since the new updates my servers still stuck at :

 

- For the master one :

And the option "bind_ip = 0.0.0.0" doesn't change anything.

We don't support offline mode for shards yet, if you have offline_server = true in your settings.ini file, you'll have to remove it for the time being.

Probably a beginners mistake. But could not find anybody asking the same.

When i enter a cave, i get ported back to the entrance (with an connection menu between.)

 

What could i've missed?

 

Did you remember to create a worldgenoverride.lua, and place it in the configuration directory for your caves server?

This created an issue where in the overworld, if you use applied horticulture to force farms to grow during night time, the plant will grow withered.

RIP my 20 dragonfuirts.

Another server crash upon cave reset. (independent reset because of a dead player).

 

Thanks, we'll look into these crashes. Just something to check, are you near your memory limit for that machine? Worldgen can use a lot of memory, and so crash with Out Of Memory.

Are you sure you are at the entrance in the same world? If you forgot the worldgenoverride.lua, then both servers will be an "overworld" so it looks like you're popping back on to the surface.

 

Whether it can allocate more system resources for game or Dedicated host use?Such as memory~~

or Increase memory usage~~

I'm not sure what you're asking for, sorry. Dedicated servers use less memory than the client.

 

I made a post in the dedicated servers section but I am not getting any responses and it is related to beta branch.  

 

I cannot connect to my server I'm hosting on my network through another PC on the same LAN.

This just started recently and I have made no changes to my firewall rules or the configuration of the server.

 

I have noticed if I log into that same server with a client and use the LAN tab I can connect, but not through the online tab.

 

Let me know if anyone else is seeing this problem.

 

Is this a dedicated server, or are you hosting it through the Game interface? Could you post the log.txt for that server please?

Something I actually also wondered about myself.

Like is there a tag like: -x1024m or something so it can only use that amount of RAM.

I don't know if it's related but they ran me outta Bunny-Town when I had two live rabbits in my inventory but no meat.  (was gonna make some ear-muffs for someone who'd just come on server)

 

At the time I assumed it was legit, I mean I had BUNNIES in my inventory.  But it's possible they would have chased me regardless.  I'm not sure it's related, but seemed worth mentioning.

well the machine i am running my 10+10 server has 8 GB memory. I see 5 GB free memory at all times. When the server is out of memory log file says it is out of memory. Because my test server had 750 MB memory and it was giving that error. But this machine is much better and there is no way that  this machine will be out of memory..

 

Running Ubuntu 14 server edition and only thing I am running is this game server and it uses 3 GB memory.

The server uses as much memory as it needs to, there's nothing like allocating memory. You can certainly set the process priority of affinity if you're comfortable with that, but there's no standard configuration that's "holding the game back" in any way.
