  1. 1. What kind of player are you? Whats your style? Pick one.

    • Don't mod, alt-tab, or f4, or turn off my pc. Game is completely vanilla.
    • Balanced Mods, but don't alt-tab...(old save loaders not included use #4)
    • Use extreme mods, and alt-tab to keep from dying, or use a old save loader

    • Game is completely vanilla. Buuuuttt! once in a while in a really tense game i may be guilty of alt tabbing......
    • Balanced Mods only, limited alt-tabbing.
    • Use mods, but only to increase game difficulty, No save scumming of any sort

so Xjurwi made a post telling me to "prove" that the hardcore playstyle is non-existent in the forums, which obviously i'm overexaggerating, but still, kinda would like to post a poll to see how everyone plays.

It seems to me the "harcore no cheat, no mod, no alt-tab" players are outnumbered on the forums, and it doesn't really matter if they are or not, i'm just curious to know.

there should be another few options:

"only use mods that are balanced and I don't use alt-f4/tab"

"only use balanced mods but occasionally alt-f4/tab" <- my category if anyone even cares.

"only use balanced mods and alt-f4/tab a lot"

those worlds have this bad tendancy to catch on fire.... but that aside this poll applies to unmodified basic survival games.

tbh i didn't even think of that cause i rarely play with modified settings unless i'm playing a low resource or a higher mob map.

It exits your game and goes back to the last saved point, it can be used to cheat death.

That's Alt-F4.

But anyway, this poll can't be taken seriously. It seems to imply there's a correlation between using mods and making the game easier (at most, a mod could be "balanced"). And it doesn't take worldgen options into account, nor touchstone/meat effigy use.

If you're going to play vanilla in default map settings, you might as well cheat, since where's the challenge in that?

Oh. Silly me.

I play completely Vanilla. I don't have any mods installed, and I don't use any of the "cheat" death methods.
I'm fairly new to the game, but no mods intrigue me as I like challenges.

sadly I couldn't vote in the poll, it said I didnt have enough permissions.

Besides sometimes using the Always On mod to not worry about mousing over stats when moving, (edit: and anything texture-related by Klei people to improve graphics only) I play the way the game intended to be.

While I did Add things like the Halloween mods to try them out when asked by Klei and  sometimes tried out things like Krampuischnat, i don't run any mods that "cheat" the perma-death. I removed them once the event is over or if it changes the game play itself.

I may later make exceptions to adding characters once I master the game completely to extend game play as well as new things to accomplish done by modders (in the future) but currently am still trying to get to a "mastery level" of the game so am strict on things like mods overall (and always when it comes to making the game easier in any way/bypassing perma-death.) Mod things like "aligning" or "snap to"  transplanted planted items and structures however I will allow for symmetry (since it doesn't actually make my game play easier) should I want to "show my camp" at a later time. I don't even use that mod currently

However, due to the rare but still happens game crash sometimes, I do back up saves occasionally should the game crash unexpectedly and my game is lost or significantly lost progress due to it crashing (or crashed a long time after the save and before the next one.)

However, i do not "Save Scrum" if I should die or not get a rare drop (Krampus sack for example which is difficult when I do not play the previously mentioned mod any more) and delete any save games upon perma-death.

That should cover full disclosure.

Why does it mater to anyone what other players do when they play THEIR game? How does it badly reflect upon you when someone else uses a mod?

Seriously, all you are displaying is an elitist jerk, totalitarian, everything-has-to-be-my-way-or-it-is-wrong attitude.

Every single human being only has a finite amount of time to enjoy living on this planet before they die. What gives you the right to try to dictate what they do with that time? This is MY life, butt out.

Also:

Mod are completely supported by Klei. They have even actively worked in order to make the modding process easier. Why do you look down on a part of the game that was intentionally created?

Well @gnarlytreeman, what are your answers to that?

I hope people stop overreacting.

He's made a very stanch stance against mods in previous posts. He's also gone so far as to call anyone that uses mods as cheaters in a very negative context. He has made these comments, but has been unable (thus far) to defend against other's arguments. I want to know what he has to say regarding my posts.

I take a very firm stance against anyone that attacks anyone else based on differences between them. racism, nationalism, homophobia, sexism, hating someone for liking a different sports team, making fun of people because they are overweight, nerdy, dress differently, or anything else. If someone wants to belittle another just because of a different life choice they are in the wrong.

I do not stand down from anyone that persecutes others for any reason. The fact that someone uses mods or cheats at a game is VERY stupid reason to persecute someone. Either he defends his words with a logical argument for his side of the story, or he stops spreading hatred targeted at others.

Yes, gnarlytreeman is the man I point to with these statements, but that is because he was the one that commented on what I said in previous posts and exposed himself for what he is. I am speaking to everyone and anyone that thinks the way that he does. If you share the same views as gnarlytreeman and wish to rebuke what I have said, feel free to make that argument known.

In the end, I simply wish that everyone can get along. I want to stop all hatred, be it because others use mods, or anything more serious. No one deserves to be looked down upon for doing what makes them happy or being who they are, unless they harm another in the process.

He wants to come in here and call everyone that uses mods cheaters. He wants to look down upon others and belittle their work compared to his own when a person uses mods. The most confusing part about the stance that he takes is that this game has built-in mod support. There is a section to these forums dedicated to mods. There are members of Klei that HELPS others make mods.

*sigh*

I defend the hard work of the modders as being labors of love to enhance the game. I defend the people that play the mods as those that wish to tweak this game to be more enjoyable for themselves. I will continue to defend against anyone that takes a negative stance against anyone in our community.
