Do Forums Ideas ever get added?

I think a good half of the visual changes and clean-up were due to feedback and a good chunk of them were of me reporting and suggesting various things over the years.

I'm far from a newcomer, having been here around since the infancy of the DST beta. I can very much confirm that there's been a tenfold of user-made-suggestions that've been worked into the game one way or another, ranging from minor touch ups to entire skins and even mechanics.

the concept of a rain item, initially acknowledged by klei after the removal of the exploit that let you painstakingly use duplicant moslings in order to keep up rain through the summer, made it in years later with the wickerbottom rework. Might not have been something people were happy with but it was definitely added as a result of player input

Awhile back, I made a post about how I was experiencing major issues with moon shards around moondials produced from the moonstorm. Because my world heavily uses them as decor, it was becoming unsustainable to clear out the moonstorm and then spend an hour picking up all of the moon shards around my world to do it again, otherwise I would start having considerable lag issues throughout the world due to the sheer amount of moon shards that would pile up.

In response, Klei in the next hotfix made it so moondials will now auto-stack to the closest moon shard pile around them offscreen. This massively eased up the cleaning process, and allowed me to chain up to 40 storms before I would need to pickup the shards again.

I’m very grateful for this change. I can’t imagine it is a serious issue for many worlds to really have problems with, but the fact they went out of their way to do it because it was an issue I was genuinely having problems with meant a lot to me.

I like to think that my post about how controllers used to work in DST got them fixed. Though I highly doubt my specific post was what caused it

In terms of cosmetics, I suggested for the Bookcase structure to display books based on its contents last year during the Wickerbottom rework and that feature made it in!

(although it might had already been a planned feature at the time before I suggested it, but who knows)

 

If memory serves, I believe @Anthony_L3hr was the one who suggested for Winona's pearl earrings and Webber's bored expression, otherwise only seen in their Guest of Honor portraits, to be actualized in their respective skins.

I also seem to remember certain skins being based mostly on community concept art, like Wurt's roseate skin & the butcher's drying rack.

i believe the woodie's wereforms crafting patch the most recent hotfix was caused by a small post i made a few weeks ago reporting how "quick crafting" could be used to completely cancel out stun effects

I remember suggesting spiders that could glide on water and then Water Logged happened sometime afterward, I’m not saying that I directly influenced this idea being added to the game cause Klei probably had the same ideas, I just think it’s cool that I asked for, and eventually got water gliding spiders. 
I also think that I’ve suggested in the past Klei devs to do a deep dive into world Gen settings and world presets, and we literally ended up getting an entire QoL update that did nothing else but mess with that.

Klei devs do listen to feedback & suggestions sometimes, but they don’t incorporate everything either, only what fits their own vision for the game & what fits within their development time schedule and resources.

I like to think that Wendy’s Interaction with Pipspook using the same mechanics as the Divining Rod from Solo DS was something I suggested & they threw in to give me a little bit of extra fun playing my favorite character  But, honestly it’s hard to say.

I suggest some pretty crazy ideas quite often and a lot of forum members get sick of seeing any of my posts. 
My advice is to just take your suggestions and feedback & pretend your throwing darts at a dartboard, sometimes you’ll hit the target, sometimes you’ll stick in the board for a second and then fall out, and Sometimes.. you’ll miss the board altogether and end up damaging the wall.

I really hope so I starting to think that they haven’t even seen my  Webber suggestions at all like seriously there are so many chances wanted in some  variation  consist between players and I don’t think they check there messages that often  because I asked a couple of them a question that I have about the naming of woodie shadow skill and I still haven’t gotten any answers and I get it there busy people but why have a forum if they don’t take in suggestions or Answer questions and I may be wrong when I first got on the forum and message one of the devs they said to put it on the suggestions part of the forums and the they see them often but don’t respond to them  which  could be true but they could just as easily be trying to get rid of me but in a nice way and if it is true often isn’t 100% so if you see someone’s stuff just a little more transparency would go a long way

I added and changed some things sense we last messaged  but I’m reconsidering friendly fruit fly ability and  how I made a Sudo alignment that’s we gain though the spider and human half picking different alignments so I could really use your feed back

It's probably because they think your idea is radical from others.

Changes often get added when devs want to tweak the stuff anyway. So unless they're working on say, tents and sleeping mechanics, they're probably not gonna think about a suggestion regarding straw rolls. QoL updates are when the most suggestions make it in, as long as they're small- making up a whole update (for example, coming up with a new biome and plants and mobs that would be there) is pretty much a guaranteed way to cross your suggestion off the potential list.

Most often, if there's something you want changed, it's much much better to point to the problem, not the solution. Devs can often come up with much better ideas to solve a problem than players, because they see the code and what they can easily do with it to achieve the goal. And they're really creative people.

The only guaranteed way to see your ideas in the game is to mod them in. If you can't mod, draw them. If you can't draw, write them. If you don't want to write, fantasize about them and wonder what could have been...

Do you think a small but noticeable when in range of befriended spiders dying is  to big of a change if so is there a better way of wording it because it doesn’t make sense that you can lose sanity from the slightest inconvenience such as being wet or being hit by poop but he cares deeply for his friends human or otherwise but doesn’t lose sanity  when the otherwise part dies in front of him

That could be true but I even borrowed some bother because there really good and so I couldn’t represent a larger part of the community thus increasing my chances of having my stuff taken in to consideration + a lot of my original ideas and other original ideas are similar  

Oh and also did you check out the changes what were your thoughts on the things I asked about

You've been plugging that skill tree pretty hard, I think they've seen it. While super creative it is pretty radical and intensive, you have to be realistic about these things based on the trees we have already received. Half the trees so far are simple number buffs or cool simple interactions and the other half are actual new abilities. No skill trees are going to be entirely new complex abilities.

I see what you mean and  I know there probably not going to add all of it I just hope they add the base build and the spider alignments or something similar if there not going to add the alignments at least a Den Decorating Set skin that changes the skin of spiders that spawn form the decorated dens that it’s applied to

I just hope you really like whatever the Webber skill tree ends up being and enjoy it and aren't too bummed out if they don't use your ideas but you need to be prepared for that likely situation. Klei do appreciate all our feedback and ideas but ultimately it's their game, design and vision. 

There might be aspects of it that are similar to your suggestions or partially influenced by them and there might not be.

I know, as long as they fix the inconsistency between the lore and game and it makes sense with his character
