Wurt (and Wilba) is odd

Recommended Posts

I don't think canonically any of the main cast have aged, even Maxwell went from normal to dust in an instant. Since Wilson's arrival I don't think that many years have passed. Plus I think it's unclear how time works in the constant.

Wanda ages but she's affected by her own shenanigans.

Something along those lines I think.

Realistically, this is a question that lies beyond what the developers really want you to think of, and is answered by "its a video game, having wurt/wilba age into their full grown counterpart isn't part of the gameplay that is wanted from them". The same goes for every other character that doesn't age.

If you want a silly lore answer, I would simply say the adolescence of a merm or upright pig is painfully long, taking upwards of thousands days before the entity begins to grow again. 'Tis why they cut the other piglets from hamlet.

the constant operate by a different set of rules that clearly keep the survivors in a loop, Wanda's magic and specially her quotes show that she is beyond this cycle in a way and has love through many timelines
it is likely she can age under a specific set of conditions but also i will assume that some areas of the constant are different from others, like the forge and gorge, and time works differently in all of them

aside from time in the constant being weird and death and life still being wacky for the natural habitats as well, my headcanon that once a constant-born creature becomes "a survivor" they are know under the same effect as the humans, that is not aging, being able to be attacked by charlie, etc

Even if it's really game logic, I think Klei must have a in canon explaination, they must have know people gonna have question like this if they release constant native kid character, why do I think there a in canon explaination for why Wurt doesn't seem to age? Because the in-game lore tell us that she the only Merm kid in her entire tribe and it's werid that they include that part in her bio since it doesn't come up as much as her other trait.

I don't think klei must have an in canon explanation. I think its common for certain aspects of characters or setting in media to have things that aren't explained and don't necessarily have any explanation, and its not important or necessary for them to have such. An example I immediately think of is concept of storks delivering babies.

Also, where in the lore is it stated that wurt is the only child merm? The description of her trailer states that she's the smallest and youngest, but I take that as her simply being a bit of a runt, not that there aren't any merm children elsewhere. Stepping a bit more into head canon, I think its possible that wurt doesn't quite consider any stage below her to be in her group  to be quite "in" yet. Maybe there're little merm tadpoles in those swamp ponds, or something.

The canon explanation is that the time inside the Constant is complete nonsense.

Here’s a canon explanation they’re kids and the reason they aren’t aging is because it would be weird and a lot of work to implement and there is little to no reason in doing so

is there a canon explanation for why survivors dont die after 1000 days of not sleeping, peeing or taking a sh*t? or why wicker doesnt die of old age?

is a videogame

Headcannon: while exceptions and weird rules exist...
Time experienced in the Constant flows more or less at the same rate as IRL.
The sun just flies around the plane very quickly, and seasons all change in the span of a few hours.

So you can experience two and a half years of seasonal changes in a day, and the survivor's circadian clocks have all given up and gone home.

And who are Wurt parent? Why aren't they with her?

I suppose they were goats that was fully transformed into merms by Gnaw when Wurt was transformed partially.

That also explained why Wilba can be attacked when other intelligent pigs can't.

It’s not even confirmed if she does come from the goats or not and I don’t think she does again it would be super weird to have mechanics around her parents and there is no good way it would fit into the game is a better explanation

But there are some tips for example: Victorian skin, horns, unique personality.

As mysterious box said skins are not canon or else wurt would also be a squid angler fish a goat and a shark. Plus horns are something all merm guards have

Maxwell kinda went into different stages of age as the only character that shown age in the game. Other than Wanda, but Wanda is kinda cheating in her own way. The Constant continent and the rest of the world is stuck in the same time loop that ruins stays forever unchanged and can reset, nature always regrows and time goes fast for everyone all the time. Literally the definition of the world we play in.
