I don't want to sound biased but i don't think bottomless fire pit skin should ever be obtainable again, yes i do have it but there are other games i play that had similar rewards for early players that i didn't get, when someone showed support for the game before everyone else, why can't they have some small benefits. I'm in the exact same boat, and I hate saying it because I don't want to sound like I'm gatekeeping the skin, but I definitely agree. Klei has taken the stance that time limited skins aren't very fun for the people that miss out (like Guest of Honor skins, Twitch drops, or those halloween skins that became heirloom recently) which is absolutely fine. I have missed out on skins in other games where the devs were not so nice and it really sucks. I feel for the people that missed it, but at the same time, early access was essentially beta testers for this game. If it was a really wacky skin that made the fire pit a black hole with fire that looks like cosmic rays, then yeah, something that cool should probably not be locked away forever. However, this is just a firepit with square rocks instead of round ones. The only thing special about it is how it was obtained, and I think it should stay that way. I personally just like how it looks. I'm a huge fan of skins that aren't all fancy and over the top, in exchange for something that, while different, is just a smaller change to how something looks. Plus, even if people do just want it for the sake of having it, I don't particularly see anything wrong with it. The people who got the original bottomless pits would still have a special version of it that nobody else could get, I just think it's unfortunate for some cosmetics to just be locked to a very miniscule playerbase with everybody else just being out of luck entirely. It's an aspect that I don't like about a lot of games already because it just seems arbitrary and annoying to me, but in the case of dst especially it's weird because this is a sandbox survival game with a huge building aspect, and when you're just sorta limited in not being able to use some options because it was a timed exclusive skin, then that just feels bad in my eyes. Oh yeah and I think this should go without saying, but people just naturally prefer different things and when the one option they prefer the most is just unobtainable, even though there's already a system where the original skin would not lose its special standing since itd have a different rarity (and this is not some new concept to games with cosmetics like this), then I doubt there would be much of any harm done if the skin was made available in some sort of way. I don't understand why someone has to make a thread about this one skin every once in a while, as if they have not played any other games where there are early access rewards that are much bigger compared to DST and no one is able to obtain them, probably worth thousands of dollars in some cases just because of rarity. I understand that klei doesn't really want to have exclusive skins anymore and i think this is a good direction, i am not disputing this but i also think that early access skin is something that should stay early access, if there's one skin in the game that shouldn't be obtainable it is this one. No one in particular should care if they have heirloom or other versions for same skins, it really doesn't matter if it is heirloom while someone else is able to use a "new" version that just has different name but looks the same in game. The actual winners' reward would be being able to show that they won a contest until now, where I can pretend like I won it and it has no significance at all. Klei pls. On a more serious note, if Klei caved in to the incessant posts of people who need everything just because they can't have it replacing the fire pit with a profile background that has your character standing in front of the early access spawn would be cool. Would be a lot cooler than the fire pit skin honestly. I never said items that are available for people to purchase should be handed out for "free", nor have I said the bottomless pit should be handed out for "free". What I and I feel many other people would actually want in this case is for the skins that are entirely unavailable to be at least available through the rewards system, that is all. My entire point is that 99% of other skins are available through some way shape or form, just these very few aren't and that can feel bad for a game where you build a lot of stuff, my point isn't that because the game has a huge building aspect that everything should be handed out for free when it comes to skins.
