We're get bored of totally common 145% speed boost of cane and magiluminescence.

It's time to give DST further speed boost thingies!

Just get a glossamer saddle+rider beefalo, you will be almost  as fast as an overcharged wx

Sorry, I need to fix something for you: As much as I understand you get a 45% speed boost (25% + 20%, without the 100% because already with a 100% speed boost you'll become twice as fast) in DS, but in DST you get a 50% speed boost (125% * 120% - 100%) from using Walking Cane and Magiluminescence.

Maybe they don't want to make coffee again because it will turn out that wigfrid cant eat coffee again and thus basically making her worthless in the end game.

If they change coffee into 'goodies' like they did to taffy, there won't be a problem.

in all seriousness though, Speed is the single most broken stat in the game. As much fun as I had combing Overcharge, Coffee, a stalking stick, and an aerodynamic hat on my Hamlet world, it's still absurd how broken it becomes. Most notably the fact that there becomes 0 challange in dodging enemy attacks.

if you look at character-spesific speedboosts

Wormwood and WX-78 both only activate under spesific circumstances, meaning that they won't always have them up (Worm only having it in spring, and WX requireing lightning, though that last one is a bit easier now adays)

Wilbur only has it after moving for x ammount of time, but otherwise he's actually slower, meaning that he has a harder time dealing with the things that speed helps ease

Wolfgang is considered one of the most powerful characters, and he can keep his speedboost up 24/7

Wheeler has a speedbost for compleatly free, and ironically it goes against her "travels lighter than most" perk by essentally forceing her to wear a backpack 25/8

if we where to add anymore speedboosts, then it would need some form of tradeoff so you can't just stack it with the current speedboosts in the game.

Oh, yeah, those...totally common things I absolutely use all the time.  I DEFINITELY go down to the caves by myself and fight creepy underground things all the time, and kill MacTusk myself on purpose rather than getting sniped by him out of nowhere, when I didn't realise I was that close to his camp and my HP was already low.  That, ha ha, that never happens.  Also I totally always luck out and actually get a tooth.

(seriously I hardly ever do "endgame" stuff 'cos I'm honestly happy with the earlier stuff, kthxbai.  I also suck at the caves and kinda...don't...like them? so...)

coffee when

Even though I do play Wigfrid sometimes, I'd be totally okay with that.  Then again, I did just say I don't care at all about being "competitive" or using all the fancy endgame stuff.  For those who DO, and are also Wigfrid mains, I'm sure coffee would be a sad addition.  Me, I'm already used to not being able to eat dragonpie or mandrakes; what's one more?  (Really the only time Wigfrid's carnivorism bugs me a LOT, is when it's the dead of summer, I pull a nummy chunk of ice out of the fridge to help myself cool down and she won't eat it!  It's not even food you weirdo, it's WATER!)

increased speed kind of breaks the game, in all honesty. there's ALWAYS been a drawback to having more speed (except for wx but we don't talk about that).

Well, there IS; he loses (a LOT of) sanity.  Yes I am well aware that The Good Players think insanity is a GOOD thing, you should _pursue_ it, you should ALWAYS be insane!  I don't.  I hate it and I only need so much nightmare fuel.   Even without getting to the point where you're actually attacked, I don't like obnoxious noises in my ears and ugly colours.  (Yes, there are mods for that.  I don't want them. Those things are there as a WARNING, just as pain is unpleasant for a reason!)  My point is, to _some_ people that is indeed still considered a drawback.  But I don't play as WX anyway, so...

Oh, god, Ivo, that thing just creeps me RIGHT the eff out.  I'm not a HOT gamer girl, but I am a cisgender female who has gamed ever since she was a little kid.  So...suddenly I'm REALLY glad I usually shower.

Oh, yeah, I'm WELL aware that people can always get creepier.  I have religiously watched every new episode of a show called "WTFIWWY?" since 2012, after all.  The F stands for exactly what you think it does, and the show's title's question is often VERY well earned.  : P

In all seriousness, back to actual gameplay discussion here--I don't care as long as it's balanced.  TOO fast and it feels like you're just "LA LA LA LA LA LA LA" messing with everything via console.  (Like that time me and a Steam friend went invisible and had a shadow-race (you could still see the little shadows under our characters) across the world.  Including walking over the oceans.  These were the original cardboard-wave oceans too, so it looked EXTRA weird. XD)

Too SLOW, and you get into things like why I don't play Wes (he's just like...difficulty without anything _interesting_ about it, no...flavour) or how I HATE when Wolfgang shrinks down mid dog-attack and there _are_ no invincibility frames like most games would give you during an uncontrollable animation (including literal Nintendo-Hard ones.  Super Mario Bros comes to mind.  Yes, when I say literally I mean _literally_), so that bit of slowdown makes you GET BITTEN TO DEATH AND DIE.  Not gonna lie, that is absolutely _the_ first thing I hope happens with the Wolfgang revamp.  The changing animations are so annoying.  Even when there's nothing going on, they just jerk me right out of the game and sometimes make me jump a little.  It's just...really unnerving to keep pressing the keyboard buttons to move, and suddenly it's like "Oh wait, did you want _control_ of this sprite?" for a second, and you're not expecting it.  It's like move move move DOES NOT COMPUTE move...

So anyway, I guess what I mean is I don't want like, _common_, happens really frequently, slowdown to be like how it is when you walk over spiderwebs (as a non-Webber).  Other than that, anything between "AAAARGH GOD DAMMIT LET ME _MOVE_!!" and Ludicrous Speed, I'm fine with.  As long as the amount of benefit you get from it is balanced to the amount of effort it takes to get the thing that gives that boost--so, like, a crock-pot recipe that a decently-set-up modest base could easily swing for the smaller boosts...a massive quest involving exotic ingredients, killing a difficult boss and/or waiting for it to be exactly a perfect half-moon in summer for the REALLY powerful boosts.

As long as it's the proper radio of effort to reward, I'm good.  :)

The thing about speed is that it affects getting to one place to the other (a boring grind sometimes) and combat (making fights way easier). The difference between the two is very big and combat doesn't need to be easier. So to reach a compromise I think Klei should instead improve the current methods of transportation, for example the Telelocator Focus and The Lazy Deserter.

The Telelocator Focus is just too bothersome to use. It's expensive and it's hard to tell which one is even powered. At this point it's better used to move mobs around rather than players, which I'm fine with because that has a lot of potential.

The Lazy Deserter sounds really good on paper, but I rarely see anyone make use of it. Even if you're playing with other players, chance is you won't always be working on the same task together, so you usually have no one to help you move around. Even then, someone has to get to the destination first to let other players teleport. It works fine when someone is at base and can easily teleport others back who went far away for resources, but to me that's rare. I really wanna like this item but I often forget its existence.

Worm Holes have always been one of my favorite things in this game because of it. I love planning around them, they let you save a ton of time moving around and if a map doesn't have useful worm holes, it's a bad map to me. I wish there was a way to make your own (with some kind of limit). This is also why I'm a big fan of Wagstaff from singleplayer, the Telepads are amazing while also not being too strong.

So to summarize, speed is too good for combat but sorely needed for moving around the map. Rather than adding coffee (or something similar to it) which would break combat, improving on the concept of "teleporters" would solve one problem while leaving combat unaffected.
