hackcasual
Really liking the expanded food options, and how different biomes will play differently with that. I'm currently playing a arboreal seed with no natural gas geysers, which is going to be rough with the range. This is the first time I've built a fertilizer machine in about a year. As far as I can tell, it takes 20kg of natural gas to complete a recipe (probably less depending on dupe ability). It also seems to completely lose progress on the food item when it runs out of gas, though the good news seems to be the range contents are protected from rot. hackcasual
For sure, but if recipes are 20Kg's, you're looking at 1/3rd of a cycle of full refinery operation for 1 cooking operation. In any case, my biggest problem is the fact that unless a cook completes it wastes the gas. hackcasual
I need to test it, but I suspect automation disabling the gas range will also cause it to lose gas. So I'd need to measure enough to do exactly 1 cook. bobucles
20kg gas per recipe Are these dupes cooking with open bonfires or something? That is a HUGE amount of natural gas. Kangaax
20kg per cooking? damn... that's 1/3 cycle of constant production for a generator, it certainly makes the range an endgame utility to be able to generate enough gas. LeftyRighty
what happens if you vapourise the ethanol (refined from lumber?) (they changed petroleum gens to work off ethanol too, so perhaps they changed the NG gen/usage too? haven't checked. if not... hey devs... opportunity?! ) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/108063-gas-range/#findComment-1215855 Share on other sites
hackcasual
I thought about that, but the Gas Range specifically states it takes just natural gas. I suspect ethanol vaporizes to ethanol vapor. Promethien
Since we are assured a NG vent (unless a boulder eats it) it seems we are expected to transition to NG cooking and other sources of power eventually. Tyandy
Just think, those large 45kg LPG gas bottles you get for houses off the gas pipe line would only last 100 seconds... I'm surprised the poor duplicant isn't wearing an Atmosuit while cooking. Would only take 4-5 seconds to make the air around that area 100 degrees. badgamer123
I guess they do a typo in the amount of NG use, should be something like 2kg or 0.2kg per meal....lol.20kg of gas could run a car very far. hackcasual
May have just been, "500g/s sounds reasonable" without thinking this would run for 40 seconds. My mod most likely still works. I didn't plan for it to be a permanent mod though. OxCD
Well... 100g/s is still bigger than wished values. It dropped from around 4 metal refineries to just a single metal refinery.
